Dr. William Hole Avery, DO

Dr. Avery was fine, but his nurse and the rest of the clerical staff was incompetent. His nurse has a bedside manner of a T-Rex, and does not follow up! For what should have been resolved by now has taken since middle February! I would recommend the doctor, but not the clinic!

Dr Avery was very thorough at dealing with my sinus infections & eventually doing surgery to remove polyps. He explained everything that would happen & both he & his nurse were very caring. I also had my 5 year old daughter see him & he performed the removal of her adenoids and tonsils. No problems! Very happy with him & sad he moved from Sioux Falls to Minneapolis.

To begin with would not recommend this doctor to anyone. There was not a bit of empathy for an obviuosly suffering patient. My husband was coughing away miserably. Trying to explain his sinus n cough symptoms. De Avery was only interested in having a look at his sinuses and throat. No relief nor medicine prescribed for 5 days. The doctor was too busy to look at patients reports apparently . Finally referred my husband to another specialist. It is sad to see doctors don't want to cure people, just want to pick cases that interest them.

I returned to the Paparella clinic because my issue didn't clear up after seeing a different provider at the same clinic. Dr. Avery's first words to me were "why did you come back?" and it wasn't in an inquiring tone. The exam was superficial and he had no interest in finding a solution. We did one follow-up test after some questioning, which I had to call the clinic to get the results of after waiting several days. There was supposed to be a follow-up treatment based on the results which also did not occur. But by that point I did not care. I found another clinic in the Mpls area that actually cared about treating me and was rather surprised at the approach (or lack thereof) that Dr. Avery took. I am on some medications that are clearing up the issues finally after weeks of misery. However if he had taken a more active interest in my appointment it may not have become as severe.

Dr. Avery was wonderful in helping with my son's ear problems and ear surgery. We were pleased every step along the way. He is very knowledgeable and was so good to my son. We felt like we were in good hands. Thank you.

My GP suggested if I continued to have sinus issues I see an ENT. My appointment with Dr. Avery was not productive or helpful. I am not able to afford a CAT scan and he was reluctant to offer any advice or counsel without the scan. He was not engaged in helping me to find relief and at one point said I dont have time for this. I did ask several questions trying to determine what I could do to prevent future problems. All in all it was a waste of time and money.

Dr. Avery was on call the night I landed in the ER with a nasty dog bite on my face that required 50-60 stitches in order to piece my nose & lip back together. I've seen him twice since then for follow up visits at his office. Each time he has been professional, friendly, concerned, very informative and, at each visit, he's taken time to listen to my concerns.All this is in addition to his diligent skill in stitching me up that first night. Thanks to his expertise, I anticipate having minimal scarring on my face. I would have liked to have met him under less traumatic circumstances but I will ALWAYS be grateful to him for his help!
