Dr. William F Bodenheimer, MD

First, that I’m still seeing this “doctor” after multiple unsatisfactory appts over the years is on me. I should have changed PCPs by now. I had an appt recently as a followup to an ER visit/hospital stay. When I walked in his office, I mentioned I’d like to also discuss 2 other quick things with him, at which time he could’ve easily told me to set up a separate appt for those things. He hardly looked up from his computer the entire visit, just typing away, and I felt he was totally uninterested in anything I wanted to discuss with him, not just because he was dedicated to his computer the whole time, but also in his demeanor and dismissiveness. It was his way or the highway. No interest in discussing any changes to my diet recently or other things that might have caused the issue I was there as a follow up for. We quickly went through the next issue, again, not willing to have much discussion with my concerns. When we progressed with the next thing, he finally brought his… face out of his computer, looked at me and said, “You’re running out of time,” in such a direct, rude way. It felt like a slap. Flat out refused to consider a request I had.. I wasn’t there for more than 10 min. No one else was in the waiting room or being prepped for an appt after me, and they had just come off the lunch break. I will never go back to him again. I’m done. So rude, so arrogant, and so uninterested in quality patient care. A score of 1 is even too high for my visit yesterday, but that’s the minimum.

This provider cancelled me with no notice because I missed one appt they had made 4 months in advance and they never called me to remind me of, which I had verified they would, but they didn't. I have not been late, missed any appts, had any altercations there, had zero balance etc. however this provider does have issues if you look them up.

Unless, you are willing to see them every month which they will push for weekly just to get money. Mostly your insurance money but regardless who has time to go every week just to keep getting a rescue inhaler after having one for over 35 years which they know. I moved to boonsboro and they are the only dr in town but save your time in the long haul because they will write you a letter which I'll post later stating they will no longer provide service because I had a single canceled appointment during their inconvenient hours 8 to 3:30 and NO WEEKENDS not even a sat morning. Anyways, they advertise online and by phone (receptionists) that they will do remote meetings but I tried for the last 3 months and have had to jump through hoops while at my Monday through Friday job to beg for a rescue inhaler which again unless Mr. Bomenheimer which sorry any Dr. Who goes through his receptionists after asking to speak to him for months is not a dr. Poor girls had to pass notes until I've… called trying to get him to call me to do a remote meeting 10 times like they advertise but instead he eventually just approves my script through days of texts, and posted notes passed through the front desk after several calls. I asked him the first time in person with me working at the post office if we could do what my doctors before him did with my lung disease and just send a yearly script for what I've needed my entire life. He wanted to make it routine to visit but I said I will come next time in person but going forward this disease is not going away no matter what i try so please I can't come every couple weeks i can do the copay and do your remote visits and he seemed fine but never could reach him again. I have 9 texts, 2 emails and several calls asking the receptionist for a virtual, zoom or phone meeting. The receptionist led responses were he needs to see you in person. I responded that I work your same hours of business and can't afford to take a day off every week. I said I will come again but I would love to talk to him in person please to explain my situation. Instead of calling me mr. BOMENHEIMER Spent more time than he ever has with me to write a letter stating. They could no longer service me. He knows im a vet so I would think he would treat me like a man with values but cant have the decency to at least call me after months of trying to talk to him while trying to pay for their services as if the technology of zoom is out of their technological capabilities. I would be embarrassed to say I go there but people deserve to know what service to expect from a man of your caliber.

Because of his know it all attitude I didn’t get the proper care and have suffered pain from nerve damage for two years. He only cared about money. Am looking for a new doctor!

My criticism is in two parts. Firstly, of Dr. Bodenheimer's (lack of) bedside manner and mismarketing as a family care doctor. Secondly, of his poor staffing choices, particularly that of the office manager. I honestly wonder why Dr. B chose this career because his heart is so obviously not no it. And, as a family care physician, he fails to follow through on the "care" aspect. He prefers the shelter of his laptop and will hardly make eye-contact with his patients. During all of my appointments, I can only remember him actually touching me once. He speaks very rapidly (and condescendingly, in my opinion), a rather transparent effort to wrap-up as quickly as possible. He schedules excessive follow-ups to increase his billable time. On top of it all, he misses 25% of all appointments. He just doesn't come in sometimes. His staff are horrendous. They are either just as unhappy with their career choices or Dr. B's disdain has a trickle-down effect. Particularly problematic is the… god-complex espoused by his office manager (and she is a vengeful god). I mentioned excessive follow-ups above. After one of my last appointments at that office, I specifically did not schedule a follow-up because I was tired of coming in for an issue I was no longer having and hadn't had for some time. Two months later, I'm getting letters about a $135 fee for a missed appointment. I spoke over the phone to a staff member who referred me to the office manager. I asked for more information and she stated "it's spelled-out quite simply in our letter - can't you read?" I advised that I did not schedule a follow-up and she came back with "we didn't just bill you for nothing - policy is policy". Her attitude was strong from the start and had clearly decided when taking the call that she was going to take out all of her unrelated anger and frustration on me. I was 23-ish at the time, probably seemed like an easy target to her. $135 was a lot of money to me, just starting out. I tried to ask for some form of proof that I had scheduled the appointment but the office manager was unyielding. At some point, she screamed that she didn't like my tone and would "see to it that I'm discharged from care". Sure enough, a few days later, I got the discharge letter signed by Dr. B. The reason for discharge was "inappropriate behavior". Also, they turned the $135 missed appointment fee over to collections shortly after that.

The girl at the front desk window is the worst ever. I dread going to that office because of the way she treats me. Cold as ice and will never crack a smile let alone even make eye contact with you. I wondered what have i done to receive such poor treatment as i always treat her with respect as I do everyone. Well i have already decided she has one more time to treat me that way and then I am going to quit that office and move on. Life is just to short to treat people this way especially when you are not well. I will not allow my self to be treated this way any longer.

my husband has been going to this dr since he was 51 every year the dr never once suggested a psa test not once did he suggest one my husband trusted this dr to inform him of test he would need at his age now my husband is 55 and has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer because of this dr lack of caring to inform my husband he is looking at a long road good job doc you had one job !!!!!!!! i also have another family member that goes to him and he isnt any better with her she is elderly and trust him . that has proven to be a mistake as well .!!!!!!!!.

Although I find him competent I feel that his heart is not in his work. He appears to be preoccupied with something other than his practice. He has been a no show for several of my appointments without cancelling. Twice I showed up for a 8:30AM appointment only to find that he wasn't coming in. The excuse was that he was sick. They didn't try to notify me until 8:00 AM the same day as the appointment. I was already on my way. It seems that he has a habit of being "sick" on Mondays. Yet if I were to be a "no show" for whatever reason he bills $35.00. Time for a different doctor.
