Dr. William Hal Gallimore, DO

It used to be that a new patient established with a doctor or practice by completing a "new patient questionnaire". Within the YMRC PhysicianCare network, that is not true. What is true, is a person wishing to establish with a new doctor or practice within said network, must complete a "prospective patient questionnaire". Upon reviewing my submission (it took 2 weeks), and only after I called for a status, was I told that Dr. Gallimore did not wish to accept me as a patient. What exactly is the reason for denying me access to health care through his practice? Is it my race or ethnicity? Is it my age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation or educational experience? Is his decision to deny me access to health care based on whether or not I use seat belts while driving or whether or not I have smoke detectors in my home? Interestingly, the heading on the last page of the YRMC Spring 2013 newsletter, delivered via USPS bulk mailing throughout Prescott, reads "Welcome to the… Family". It goes on to state, "Selecting a new doctor is one of the most important decisions you will make. That's why we want to introduce you to the newest members of the YRMC PhysicianCare Team." Dr. Hal Gallimore's contact information is listed below the statement, along with several other health care providers. What's wrong with this scenario? The newsletter statement should read, "We at YRMC PhysicianCare accept or deny applicants based on the disclosures contained within his or her prospective patient questionnaire. Therefore, applicants must understand the decision to choose a physician is not theirs to make, but rather, the choice is left to our network participants to decide which applicants they will accept as patients.â?? I was told by the YRMC Physician Referral Service that Dr. Gallimore recently completed his residency, joined a local practice, and was accepting new patients with my type of health insurance. I am still awaiting an answer to why I am being discriminated against and precluded from access to primary health care as a new patient within the YRMC PhysicianCare â??Familyâ??. Is this how you or your loved ones would want to be treated by this doctor or network?
