Dr. William Richard Miely, MD

I have written 2 reviews about how Dr. Miely botched my mom’s stenosis surgery, almost 7 years ago, which left her hands, arms, and legs pretty much paralyzed. He has absolutely NO bedside manners, saw my mom one time after her surgery. His assistant CeCe would become very snarky and tell me I needed to be patient, when I called the office to say she was getting worse. It’s a daily struggle for her as well as for her family who feel guilt everyday because we listened to the doctor when he told us she would be in a wheelchair without surgery. PLEASE do your research!!!! Get several opinions if you’re thinking about surgery. Dr. Miely ruined my mom’s quality of life, as well as her family. I give him ZERO stars!

I have had 4 back surgeries with Dr Miely and I not only highly recommend him but would not consider going any where else for surgery . I have always found the office well run with minimal wait times before an appointment , the staff friendly and helpful, and I received clear medical diagnoses as I asked questions concerning my particular case. My surgeries were in 1999, 2013, and 2017. After each surgery my recovery was fast and my life changed for the better each surgery. I have degenerative disc disease and I thank God Dr. Miely was there to change my life for the better .

Seemed to be knowledgeable about his specialty area but was not good with interpersonal skills. Definitely was direct and left me feeling overwhelmed and hopeless, rather than a sense that we would be a team to help my medical concerns.

Very upfront & conservative. Doesn't push surgery unless it is the last option.

I was in serious pain... Dr. Miely found i had a missing disk due to a traumatic injury. He had to put a cadaver bone in, and fuse them. I went in and could barely move. As soon as i woke up i could tell the pain was gone. Immediate pain relief. Healed fast. Gave me my life back.

Dr Miele fixed a ruptured disk in my lower back & I had a great outcome. His work was minimally invasive & my recovery was very good.

Dr. William Miely is amazing. He performed one of the (surely) most mind-boggling and extensive surgeries on my husband, and he's fine today. Dr. Miely is very knowledgeable and confident. I would recommend him any day.

I have seen Dr. Miely three times over the past two years. My first appointment with him was pleasant. He recommend I do physical therapy there at Ortho One and revisit doing surgery after PT was complete. My second appointment was strange. And my third appointment was just totally weird. For whatever reason, he did not want to operate on me and practically ran from the room. I've heard he is one of the best surgeons in Columbus, but I think he has some kind of social disorder. I feel like I was sucked in and a carrot dangling (surgery) dangling in front of me so they could keep making money off of me. Having to explain to other doctors why he didn't want to operate on me is difficult, as the only detail I can give them is he didn't want to perform surgery and wouldn't give me a reason. And, like one of the other reviewers, he recommended that I seek a pain clinic. It really was a total waste of my time, my money and his time and very frustrating. I would not recommend… seeing him.

Dr. Miley seen me one time and decided he should send me to a pain center, he did not take the adequate time to diagonose me, he made lots of assumptions. Thank God i didnt take his diagonosis and let things be, i after pursing another doctor found out i had a fracture tht required 4 screws to stablize and he would have never found it because he was gonna just send me away to a pain center...I would never go to him again nor reccomend him to anyone!

I had my first visit with this doctor today. I felt he was afraid to do my surgery because i had surgery before from another back surgeon...i know doctors take up for one another but it is ashame when it comes to the care of a patient... I had to wait what seemed for an eternity in the room waiting for him and i left there hopeless. I now don't know what to do? No patient should be left with such an option. I cannot live with this pain... I'm not saying Dr. Miely isnt a good surgeon, i would never do that, i wouldn't know, but for me he really didn't seem to care about my pain but how it might affect him...but i would never hold him responsible or even have asked him to help hold the last doctor responsible,,i've forgiven but i can't forget....but now what to do ????
