Scheduled a consult with dr smith 6 weeks out. Received an email 4 days before consult saying they needed to reschedule my appt. I called to reschedule, she offered me an appt the following week, then realized it was an initial consult, and said the first available initial consult wasn’t for another 6 weeks. Terrible service, and unwilling to fit me in when I waited 6 weeks for my appt and then they had to cancel.

Charles J Pickett I met Dr William Smith Jr for a robotic prostate surgery and I have to say Dr Smith is an amazing person and gifted doctor. My procedure was done with precision and little pain as I was in bad shape and in tremendous pain prior to his recommendations and procedure. I can’t think him enough as his communication is so good I know I will be fine now. I highly recommend this amazing doctor as he is a good person as well as a gifted professional. Having recently moved to the area, then be stricken with kidney stones, it was just "luck of the draw" when choosing a urologist. When I chose Dr. William A. Smith, Jr., I made a very lucky draw! I appreciate that, no matter how full the waiting room is, he has time to sit down with me and explain the options for treatment and his reasoning behind running various tests, scans or getting labs. He is low-key, but interested in solving the problem at hand in the way that makes the most sense. He also listens to patient feedback (or push back!) and clearly explains the potential outcomes. I am delighted he is on my medical dream team!

I was referred to Dr. Williams by my primary care doctor for a kidney stone. I have experienced a kidney stone before and have had a simple day procedure and went home later that day about 12 years ago. During my appointment with him, he told me about a new procedure that would break the stone and make it easier to pass. Although I was reluctant, I took his advice because I trusted him. The procedure was done and I woke up in extreme pain. The hospital staff assured me it was normal and just gave me more pain medication. I knew something was off when I was sent home. I went to sleep and woke up with a swollen abdomen. I called dr. Williams and he told me to go the emergency room. Once he came and checked me out, he proceeded to tell me that I had fluid build up in my abdomen due to a tear in my ureter. I then had to do another surgery to insert a hose into my kidney to bypass my torn ureter as it heals. This "simple" procedure had me stay in the hospital for 18 days in extreme pain and… discomfort. I feared that I would lose my kidney and even feared death. After leaving the hospital, I was bedridden for 2 months. I couldn't work and support my family. on top of that, when I would go back to Dr. Williams office for checkups after what he did, he had the audacity to try to charge me for the visit every week.

I have been a patient of Dr. Smith for several years. I believe he is top-of-the-line specialist, but since he left the Medical and Surgical Clinic of Irving, getting things done with his support staff has gone down the drain. I have been waiting for more than a month for his nurse to transmit some information to my AARP Rx to obtain a very needed formulary exception and I have called about 5 different times. I have stopped in person at 2021 N. MacArthur and handed the information by hand. Nothing!!!! I am even considering finding another provider... and it is not his fault, just very disorganized staff in his office.

I met Dr. Smith earlier this year. He assured me he had a great surgery rating. He said I would be pleased with the T.O.T. surgery for women with urine leakage. During the surgery he made an error of an extra snip. This caused me to have to wear the catheter almost a week longer which I wasn't very pleased about. The T.O.T. surgery he did for me wasn't successful after all. The only options left are to have the T.O.T. surgery again or suffer with the urine leakage which is why I had the surgery to begin with. In fact, it seems the urine leakage is worse and I'm having to use more pads than before.

I first met Dr. Smith when he repaired a prostate issue for me after I went to the ER. He was very thorough and explained everything I should expect in a soothing yet detailed manner. Superb follow up. Very nice person and most helpful. (The procedure worked exactly as he said it would.)
