Dr. Yu-Lan Mary Ying, MD

Dr. Yu-Lan Mary Ying removed my acoustic neuroma (brain tumor) on July 24th of this year. She worked along with another great surgeon on successfully removing my tumor. Only 2 weeks post surgery I am able to drive my car, have no pain, deal only with minor discomfort and recovering at a fast pace. Dr Ying is not only very skilled & knowledgeable but also kind and caring. I feel grateful for her part in my almost 10 hrs long surgery as she played a crucial part in reaching the best possible outcome in my situation. I highly recommend consulting with dr Ying if you facing a possibility of brain surgery.

I am extremely fortunate that I was referred by my ENT, Warren Galeos MD to Dr. Ying for possible choclear implant surgery. Prior to considering surgery DR. Ying ordered extensive audiolgical testing which disclosed that my hearing loss was greater than I realized. The surgery was lengthy however, it was essentially painless. Dr. ying is more than a talented surgeon she is a caring and considerate physician.

I cannot tell you the level of gratitude we have for Dr. Ying and her Staff. If I could give her 1,000 stars I would. My Mother was diagnosed with bilateral neurosensorial hearing loss in September 2022 and was referred to Dr. Ying as a possible candidate for a cochlear implant. My Mother had her initial evaluation in January with Dr. Ying and her bedside manner was impeccable! Several tests were ordered and the Surgical Coordinator Diana C. has been so diligent and informative throughout the whole process. Surgery was scheuled for left ear cochlear implant on March 2023 and the right ear performed just a couple weeks ago and I the outcome has been nothing short of a miracle! My Mother's quality of life has improved significantly and we could not thank Dr. Ying and the entire Newark University Hospital Staff enough! Truly a Blessing.

This has to be the worst doctor's visit I ever had. This doctor has a very poor bedside manner and I would not recommend anyone make an appointment with her. My appointment was so rushed I spent more time filling out the paperwork then I spent in her chair. The doctor was not attentive at all. Her tone was rude and out of line. She would ask me a question then talk over me while not allowing me to finish my statement. I felt like she pre judged me and made a poor assessment of my medical situation. She made me feel like a was wasting her time. She treated me like my symptoms were not valid and what I was feeling was not correct. Throughout the experience she was very blunt and short with me. She barely looked at me. I was talked at instead of being talked to. Therefore, I can safely say I was treated poorly by Dr. Ying. I waited a long time for this appointment after suffering for so long with my medical issue. I hoped that after coming here I would get some clarity but all I got… was disrespect and doubt. My primary care doctor referred me to an ENT and I picked this office for my treatment. I now regret my choice and will now have to get a second opinion from a doctor who actually gives a damn and knows what they are doing. On a positive note, the doctor's assistant was helpful and kind. She was the highlight of my visit but I still left the office upset and disappointed with the whole experience.

Highly recommend Dr. Ying, especially for disabled veterans like myself requiring Cochlear implant surgery. After an auspicious beginning with a long wait time, I was so happy I stayed with Dr. Ying and recommend her most highly. Caring physician, professional provider, great office staff

I waited more than two hours to see this physician who had no time for me. She couldn't be bothered to do a basic exam or learn about the past attempts I've made to get assistance with noise sensitivity and rapidly declining hearing. She claimed I couldn't suffer from noise sensitivity because I don't have migraine headaches. A headache is all I got out of this useless, insulting consultation.

Dr. Ying brought back my quality of life!!! In 2020 was diagnosed with one sided deafness and was told that the only option that would help my hearing again was cochlear implant surgery! Dr. Ying explained all my options and assured me this would be a huge benefit to me! I am extremely happy with the outcome and would recommend Dr. Ying to anyone who wants to live and hear better!!

I would recommed 100% for any ear surgery she took my daughter's Cochlear out because we needed them out for MRI she did it right away with no hesitation and had the up most confident to be able to perform it which mind you it is very complex !!! It took six hours and I was not worried one bit because I knew she is a perfection and that what you want in a surgeon especially when it comes to my daughter head and she went home same day like nothing was wrong my daughter like she never even had the surgery . The other important thing I must mention about her she was always always looking out for my daughter's best interesting even to the other doctors involved she made it clear she will do it only if I can't them back in if she wanted them she 100% prohearing and totally understood everything I was cored about and more Thank again !!!she is the best one and I been to NYC!!!Thanks again Mrs Stella Vaccaro
