Dr. Yvonne Zaharakis

This DR does not care about patients and only cares about money. I would high recommend AGAINST using this Dr / Office. No bedside manner, no respect for patients. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. This Dr would not return calls after serious brain testing and had their front office read a 1 sentence note from the DR "you need to pay for another appointment to get more information". Do not no not use Dr Zaharakis

DO NOT GO TO DR ZAHARAKIS! Total scam. Zero Stars She does not care about her patients, she does not provide follow up care, and she will try to make you pay extra for a follow up appointment just to discuss the testing that she already did. This office has no sense of urgency and does not consider the emotional stresses of neuro testing on the patient. Highly recommend against using this practice. They will hold your information hostage until you pay for follow ups. They said they would call on a Monday and then never called back with results.

Incompetent and invalidating.

Dr. Zaharakis is absolutely incompetent and uncaring. I was sent to an MRI without an explanation why. She hasn't performed any tests on me, just asked questions. After getting a second opinion, I was told an MRI was not needed and Dr. Zaharakis basically sent me there for no reason. After that MRI didn't show anything, Dr. Zaharakis called me to tell I needed another MRI. Please decide for yourself but I would stay away from this doctor, she will get you broke before anything gets better

I took my elderly mother to see Dr. Zaharakis for memory issues and personality changes after having already seen another neurologist. She took the time to listen to my mother's history both from her perspective and mine. She asked thoughtful questions with genuine concern for the patient and other family members. She treated my mother with respect and kindness when she discussed the possibility of a dementia. Dr. Z is a true gem...

Dr. Zaharakis really knows her stuff. Other doctors I've been to just jot a prescription and shove you out the door in a "NEXT!" kind of way. This doctor actually listens to your concerns and really looks into your problem. After my appointment I had a few more questions and she gladly called me back a few hours later and explained answers thoroughly. Her credentials are amazing (google her!). If you need a neurologist go to her!

I have no complaints with Dr Zaharakis herself, in fact I believe she extends every courtesy to her patients while is session with her. Time in consultation is never an issue and her "bedside" manner is excellent. However, I believe her practice in Fresh Meadows (which is shared) is poorly managed. The receptionists (which are probably shared among the 4-5 other doctors) do not maintain schedules more than a 3 weeks in advance. If I need an appointment for the first week of a given month I am instructed to call back the last week of the month prior. The receptionists at the practice are rude on the telephone and refuse to make notes of needed upcoming appointments... a call back when the schedule becomes available would not be too much to ask. However, this mismanagement would be forgivable if the receptionists wouldn't hang up the phone on me when I make this simple request. In short ... wonderful Dr. but poorly managed Queens practice... just be prepared to deal with this before you… call for an appointment.
