Dr Zachary Mulkey

I understand that Tech is a teaching hospital but Mulkey was and probably still is well below par. I had a fairly complex case that was eventually figured out at Baylor. In my first meeting with Mulkey he thought he had an epiphany and my diagnosis. It was something that had already been considered by smarter and more experienced physicians. He was reprimanded by his superior in front of me for getting ahead of himself and his self congratulatory attitude. This clearly made him angry and made me the object of his ire since he couldn't take it out on his superior. He was frequently insulting and I heard him in the hall making jokes at my expense to some of his colleagues. This behavior is beyond unprofessional. It is little wonder that he is still in Lubbock when other physicians have been able to move on to much more lucrative and prestigious not to mention competitive positions in larger cities. He never would have lasted with his terrible attitude and unwillingness to check his own… ego when he made mistakes. He embodies the attributes of what you don't want in a healthcare worker.
