Dr. Zishan Samiuddin, MD

Dr. Sammi has ignored severe problems concerning an eating disorder I have and won't attribute it to anything but alcohol. No doctor will tell you drinking is good,....but Dr. Sammi has a way of making everything about alcohol. I have serious mental problems and I feel like she could care less. I have to switch doctors because I'm unsure enough about reality, I don't need a biased doctor feeding me meds that just happen to cost a fortune, in her favor.

She can be quite brusque with me at times, and doesn't trust any assurances on my part that I am pursuing my treatment as directed. This woman insults my intelligence and I feel belittled when I see her. I'm on Medicaid so my psych dr. options are very limited, she's half a step above MHMRA, but only half.

I'm sure Dr Samiuddin is competent however after 3 1/2 years of her management of my illness through Thomas St Clinic, she fails to pursue tracks that may be more aggressive in response to little to no improvement. She can be out of touch with patient complaints and shows little empathy. She does have genuine compassion but fails to deliver when treatment is not successful. The problems with her long term are compounded by the rude office staff at Thomas Street and are routinely unprofessional and unrealistic in their dealings with mentally ill patients and indigent mentally ill especially. Sensitivity training should be conducted at this location for all staff and the doctor as well. If this is your only choice for treatment consult with MHMR Harris County as an alternate.
