Warning: PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU I had an extremely troubling experience with this doctor. I came to this practice in fear and pain. I had a sharp pain in my right side and fluid in my pelvis. The doctor recommended removing both ovaries for what turned out to be benign cysts. Unfortunately, this was not what is causing my pain. At no point was I warned of the severity of this procedure. The doctor did not discuss any other options or treatments in our meetings and did not warn me of any negative consequences. It forever changed my life. I was told that in my 50s the ovaries were no longer working anyway. My symptoms tell a different story. I was thrust into terrible night sweats, vivid nightmares, cold chills all day, severe brain fog, joint pain, and constantly feeling as though I have the flu. On top of these, I still have the original pain in my side that I sought treatment for. When I reached out to the doctor, I was told I am depressed and need to go on an… antidepressant. This has not only affected my life, but the lives of my family as well. I want to reach out to women everywhere to please make sure you research all the risks vs. benefits of having your ovaries removed. I did not know the correct questions to ask. Please research surgical menopause and gain knowledge. The lack of informed consent was deeply troubling. I was not presented with alternative approaches, nor was I adequately counseled on the long-term implications of the surgery. Had I been properly informed and given the chance to make an informed decision, I would have pursued a different course of action. Medical professionals have a duty to provide comprehensive information and to respect the autonomy of their patients. Unfortunately, this doctor’s approach left me feeling blindsided, betrayed, and with lifelong consequences that could have been avoided. I urge others to carefully consider their options and seek a second, third, or even fourth opinion before proceeding with any drastic medical interventions under the care at this practice This review is meant to highlight a critical failure in communication and patient advocacy. Every woman deserves to be treated with respect and to be fully informed of their medical choices and any negative impacts.
