A vascular surgeon provides surgical and medical treatment for blood vessel diseases affecting arteries, veins, and lymphatics (excluding cardiac and cerebral vessels). These surgeons focus on restoring circulation and preventing vascular complications.

Vascular surgeons complete medical school and either a five-year general surgery residency plus two-year vascular fellowship, or an integrated five- to six-year vascular surgery residency. Training includes both open and endovascular methods.
