Dr. Anju Verma, MD

I had an appointment with Dr. Verma that I confirmed twice - including a voicemail confirmation from their staff. When I showed up, I was told the appointment had been cancelled because I “didn’t confirm,” even though I had proof of the voicemail. When I showed them proof of confirmation, they said it was an error /communication gap in their system but they couldn’t help me. I took time off work for this visit, and instead of taking responsibility or trying to fit me in, the staff were dismissive and rude. The doctor refused to see me or make any effort to accommodate, even though this was their scheduling error. They offered me another appointment three weeks later, which is unacceptable for a patient who showed up 15 mins early to a confirmed visit. The entire experience was unprofessional and showed a complete lack of accountability or empathy. I would strongly encourage others to search for a different doctor. I hope Privia Medical Group reviews their processes and patient… service standards.

My experience: Dr. Verma is a fine doctor, and has always taken the time to answer my questions. However, trying to get a prescription refill before a scheduled appointment is absolutely impossible. I just read so many other reviews that noted the same issue; it's not just me. I am going to run out of medication the day of my appointment and as I am heading out of town right afterwards, I was hoping to solve this issue beforehand. Am looking to switch to a different doctor who makes caring for the whole person more of a priority.

Although the staff was pleasant enough, Dr Verma was extremely rude and hurried. The young lady at the front desk was able to find the lab results that were recently faxed to their office but Dr Verma could not. I tried to explain a couple things to her and ask questions but she was extremely impatient. I have never walked out on a doctor's appointment before, but after 3 minutes I had had enough.

If I can give her “ZERO” rating I will. She is worst doctor that I ever met she is so RUDE waited for set up for appointment and then when we see her she refuse to check my mom lab results that they can have access but she wants a print out and she refuse to wait to wait for a second because my mother has send my grandmas updated medication that can take only few seconds instead have to argue and wants us to come back to see her again money maker tactics. If Grandma who is 87 yrs got scared of her attitude and she if she is the only doctor here in Maryland we will be willing to drive far but we will never never coming back to her.

It's very unfortunate there aren't many endocrinologists in my immediate area. I visited this practice years ago myself and it was Terrible! I should've learned my lesson then!!! Now and more importantly it's my teenage daughter in need of help and once again Dr. Verma was extremely unhelpful! My daughter (college student) is experiencing serious hormonal issues (constant sweating, headaches, stomach pains, extreme fatigue, etc.) and can barely make it to class because of it. We had bloodwork and MRI done which clearly shows 3 areas for concern (all of which would cause my daughter's current symptoms according to what we found on the Mayo Clinic site), but Dr. Verma simply says "she doesn't know what the problem is and can only advise us based on what she knows." She then prescribes a medication to see if it helps and refers us to a Johns Hopkins endocrinologist after taking my copays and telling us nothing! The front desk staff isn't the best either! I'm soooo frustrated! Don't waste… your time or money!

She is the absolute WORST! Never refills prescriptions unless you come in for an appointment even if you already made the appointment, hardly spends any time with you for her "required" follow ups, and generally just treats the practice like a business instead of a resource to keep people alive. She generally doesn't want to interact with her patients in any efficient manner, and just wants to have their portal for messages. Quite frankly I don't think the front desk actually knows how to help people when they are in trouble and are kind of useless. Paying the copay for every appointment is a waste since she hardly spends any time with her patients, and after it all it never feels like progress was ever made. She just checks your A1c and gives you her thoughts. Not useful AT ALL.

Absolutely the WORST practice I've ever dealt with. Dr. Verma and that whole office clearly hates interacting with their patients. I had a simple time-sensitive question that would take 30 seconds to answer. I had to spend an entire day arguing with the secretary via email. She finally called at the end of the day and answered a question that I didn’t even ask. When I did ask the real question, the secretary herself started giving me advice! In addition, nobody picks up on their main line, and instead there's a recording saying to text a different number. When you text, they say to send an email. When you send an email, they say to send a message through the portal. If you're locked out of the portal, it says to call the main number. If you ask for portal help via email, they say sorry there's nothing we can do to help you. I actually had to drive to the office to reach someone, which is something a doctor should NOT be encouraging during COVID! I also showed up 20 minutes early as… instructed, and when I arrived she said they are out to lunch and locked me out of the building until my appointment time. Health issues are stressful enough without the doc adding to it with a completely dysfunctional office.

This office is mostly concerned with money. I was seeing this doctor for two years, she never sat and listened, she rushes threw her appointments. I called and asked to get a perscription fot testing strips and was told I had to see her prior. Testing strips are not a medicine, but a necessity for testing blood sugars. I couldn't get blood work done, nor take insulin without them. The front desk make comments on patients without concern of others hearing them in the waiting room. I choose another doctor and I'm finding out that I was better off doing so.

I just switched to Dr Verma and I am about to find a new doctor. The practice seriously doesn't understand patient management. First and foremost, forget getting any meaningful help on the phone. Everything needs to be sent via text which is not an acceptable solution for all situations. Beyond that, there is a serious disconnection between those at the front desk and the doctor in communications with me. I am told the prescription has been sent in and if prior approval is required it would be submitted and then being told that the Dr will not submit the prior approval. Every time I have managed to talk to someone on the phone, there is no empathy or willingness to help. Just send in a text. I was traveling overseas and running low on a medication that I need daily. After not letting me know that the prescription would not be approved only after tracking down a response from the Pharmacy, I proceeded to travel overseas without one of my main daily meds. I… explained my situation to the staff and they just didn't seem to care or be willing to help me with the limited time I had left before travel. Subsequently, I have since returned to the country and still without this key medication. Being bounced around between the Dr's office and staff, the pharmacy and insurance this is still not resolved. Long story short, I am done with practice, patient care doesn't seem to be a priority. Especially when I have gone above and beyond to communicate with the practice and seek assistance. I am not interested in having text as my primary means of communication with my doctor. My advice find a different doctor. Its just too much of a hassle to be a patient with this group.

This practice refused to see my transgender partner. My partner was referred by his primary care doctor to see Anju Verma to track his hormones, and to renew prescriptions he has been on for five years. They denied him an appointment because the doctors don't see gender dysphoria or transgender care as medically necessary. This is outrageous, it's 2020 not 1995. Get with the times!!!! Hormone therapy for Gender dysphoria is a medical necessity! I will say the front desk woman who I spoke with was very nice, this comment is a reflection of the practice not the receptionists.
