Dr. Gary Robert Simonds, MD

Very unprofessional. We had to drive 8 +/- hours to Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio just to get antibiotics to treat a staff infection. Dr. Simonds wanted to perform a spinal tap near the staff infection site. No reason for the procedure to be done. My son waited over 12 hours to be treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. The lab work showed staff infection. Dr. Simonds ordered all antibiotics be withheld. ???????? We waited 20 minutes at Cleveland Clinic, they had my son in a bed on IV antibiotics. It's a shame we had to spend the time and money to drive 450 miles to receive antibiotics that Dr. Simonds could have and should have ordered 20 hours earlier. If you need a neurosurgeon in Roanoke, Va. it would be in your best interest to seek treatment at another facility. I would not take a hamster to Dr. Simonds.

I was only disappointed of having to see a DO after major brain surgery and not Dr. Simonds. The DO told us before meeting Dr. Simonds that it was one in a million chances the aneurysm would change. And if it was him he wouldn't worry about it. The next day Dr. Simonds showed us it was bulging and leaking.

I was seen by Dr. Simonds in 1997 for a removal of a pituitary tumor. I was 16 years old, I am currently 33 and was researching online to find him again. I just received word from my current family doctor that my MRI results showed a regrowth of the tumor. I was hoping to be seen my Dr. Simonds again, but to my disappointment I have seen he has left our Geisinger clinic here in PA. He also has done a brain surgery on my brother due to a car accident. I would highly recommend him. Wish he was closer ;-(

my experience with Dr Simonds has not gone well he performed surgery on my lower spine at l2 and l3 . I was having pain in my left thigh and the pain has continued . I can not get a follow up with him they sent me to a Dr Synkowski who treats me like I am lying to him when I say I still hurt . He has spent all of 20 minutes with me and has no clue what he has done in my case. Do not use these people unless you don't mind being treated like a piece of meat

Dr. Simonds has done seven spine surgeries on me, including a multi-level (c-1 to t-2 fusion). I have Cerebral Palsy and used a power wheelchair for 15 years. Now, I only need it for distance. He saved my life literally several times, prevented quadraplegia, and did emergency surgery for cauda equina syndrome so I wouldn't spend my life wearing a cholostemy bag. He has been the most compassionate and knowledgeable doctor I have ever had (and I've had thousands). Over ten doctors refused to help me and Dr. Simonds demonstrated courage and skill. I trust him with my life and anyone else's. Anyone who does not seek his expertise, in my opinion, is a fool.

I have been a patient for about 6 months, having only seen him once. I am not all that happy with his interns and sub-interns when I have appointments. My appointments are made with him when it is suitable for him and then it isn't with him.

my experience with Mr. simmonds after losing my mri on sugery day, he implanted a non fda device in me and I am now disabled with bones sticking up in the back of my neck the size of eggs.I will be glad to e-mail you phots of it as proof. do yourself a favor and dont trust him
