Originally from Argentina, Gustavo Gutnisky, M.D. earned his Bachelors degree at Liceo Militar General Paz in Cordoba, Argentina in 1965. He went on to earn his medical degree from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina in 1972. He then served as a surgical resident at the air force hospital in Cordoba until 1974. He interned at the Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital in Detroit and performed his neurological surgery residency at the Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon, where he became Chief Resident. In 1978 he became the neurosurgical resident under Peter Bent at Brigham-Childrens Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

In addition to his stellar academic career, Dr. Gutnisky was named a Diplomate by the American Board of Neurosurgical Surgery in 1983. He serves as an associate clinical professor for Neurological Surgery of Medicine at the LSU School of Medicine.

He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and also is certified FLEX and ECFMG. His is a member of the Southern Medical Society, Congress of Neurological Surgery, St. Tammany Parish Medical Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and a past member of the Chicago, Illinois Medical Society.
