Dr. Joan Lea Abernethy, MD

Another smug Doctor who considers her time to be more valuable than the patients. She successfully corrected my cataracts, but her follow up care was pathetic. She knew that I was going to have to have corrective lenses due to my prism vision and kept re-scheduling my follow-up visits. After waiting SIX WEEKS, I refused to allow another re-scheduling when they called. I was PROMISED that if I came in at their convenience, That I would be the first patient seen. I was the first one to check in, I was the first one taken back to an exam room. After waiting 30 minutes, I decided to leave. When I opened the door of the exam room, she was in the hall looking at a chart, so I retreated back to the exam chair. I heard a door close and discovered that she was with another patient that had arrived AFTER me. If I need more eye surgery, I'll see another Doctor.

Dr. Abernathy removed cataracts from my eyes. She did both eyes with the surgeries a few weeks apart. My results are excellent, and my vision now tests 20/20. I now see her for all my vision check-ups and could not be happier. I found her very caring and communicative; I have sent my husband and several friends with everyone very pleased. Deborah Kauffman

Double the price for YAG surgery than anyone in the metroplex!!!

Every time her office visits take me over an hour before I see her - this time she said there were not 1 but 2 emergencies - fine if true- but NO ONE from her staff bothered to tell me and I sat in the exam room for over an hour. Patients time is valuable TOO! Find a doctor that appreciates your time.

Dr Abernathy did cataract surgery on both of my eyes. I have had clouds in both eyes ever since. It is difficult to see when driving during the day. I have complained numerous times and gone in for exam after exam. I was charged each time for the exam. Dr Abernathy seemed to have no solution to my sight problems. She doesn't seem very concerned either. I do not recommend going to Neathery Eye Associates. I wish I had it to do over. I would go somewhere else. Typing this review is difficult because of the constant clouds in both eyes. Stay away from these people.

DrAbernethy is A+, but I would not have any surgery there because of their billing mistakes. Every aspect of my husband's surgery has involved BIG mistakes, hundreds of dollars, and none have been in our favor.

Cataract surgery. Great Dr, short wait, takes time with patients, gave me great advise on lens replacement. Wonderful Dr, you will not regret using her.

Dr Abernethy may be a good doctor, I don't know. My eye Dr referred me to her for my cataract so I set up an appointment. At 2PM I entered the waiting room. At 3PM I told them I would not wait any longer and left. No one had come out to say 'sorry there is a delay' or anything else. They have not tried to contact me to apologize, reschedule, or even offer an explanation.

Always friendly as is the staff. She won't let you leave until all of your questions have been answered. I will always go back to her.
