Dr. Peter Gabor Bernad, MD

This is doctor is a gem! It’s hard to find a doctor that will spend time with a patient listening to their concerns. He explained my condition in detail and I was able to ask as many questions as necessary. His office staff is very nice. I like the Alexandria location due to its big (and free )parking.

This was the worst experience I ever had with a 'doctor'. I was seen by Mary Taylor the NP. She kept laughing throughout the appointment when I was on the verge of tears. She ordered an MRI. When I got there they couldn't find the results even though I had already gotten them so they certainly did as well but they don't seem to use computers there so they probably lost the paper copy. For my slipped discs she told me to just keep taking ibuprofen. I had to ask if I should have physical therapy. Her eyes lit up and she said 'thats a good idea' like she'd never heard of it before. When I asked if the discs could be causing my dizziness she said 'the physical therapy guys are smart. They might know.' Then she handed me a paper on exercises for low back pain and said'i know you don't have low back pain but you can can have this anyway'. Never addressed the neuropathy, dizziness, and upper back pain that brought me there.She did not tell me one thing about the MRI results. Asked me to come… back in a month even though there really was no treatment plan. They also sell weight loss tea the office, not FDA approved. I could explain much more of this place's insanity if I had time but the bottom line is, do not go there.

WORST MD EVER, TALK ABOUT HIS OWN PERSONAL LIFE INSTEAD OF THE PATIENTS ILLNESS. WAITED OVER AN HOUR TO SEE THIS REDICULOSUS. HE TALK DOWN TO A STAFF IN FRONT OF THE PATIENT. IS HE FOR REAL. HE NEEDS TO BE IN JAIL

I never had an experience like this before! I made the appointment at least a month ago and took off work for the appointment. They had no record of my appointment anywhere in the system and were very rude and unapologetic. He might be the best doctor in the world, but if he hires and surrounds himself with inept people, I don’t trust him with my medical care. Look elsewhere and don’t waste your valuable time!

I am utterly shocked at some of the negative reviews I've read here. The Dr Bernad that has been taking care of me has been GREAT! He has taken the time to listen, examine and dig deep into the problems and issues that many other doctors have ignored. He has taken great time and effort into digging deep into my issues and determining the best path forward. Yes, i have waited past my scheduled appointment time but when he did see me, he did not rush; it has been a very long time since that has happened. He is not rushing patients through to log patients and get paid for ineffective service. I am suffering from TBI issues that i have had for many years of military service. Many other "specialists" provided poor treatment, if any at all. if i had received the care that i am getting from Dr Bernad, 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago, i would not be in the terrible shape he is fixing. His bedside manner is incredible. He has taken the time to get to know me and deal directly with what I… am suffering through and explain things every step along the way. He has reassured me that he is going to help and not leave me high and dry. I have recommended colleagues suffering from brain injuries to him, they feel the same as i do. i guess some folks like to be rushed along and pacified or placated, that has never been his approach with me and i am grateful!

this was an awful experince ,time was wasted -i went for one reason and all he did was talk and i got tired of him talking on something that was not my issue,I paid cash for nothing i did not get the service i was entitle to get. I just got up and left. This is not the service i are others deserve i will never go back,he was a friendly person at all.

Dr. Bernad is generally late, but that is because he spends a lot of time with patients getting to know their medical condition and lifestyle factors that might affect their condition. Very personable and caring, and wants to get to the bottom of your condition, not just prescribe pills to mask the symptoms.

I feel like I just woke up from a terrible nightmare...which is ironic, because I was seeing Dr. Bernad about my sleep disorder! I can't even begin to write a coherent review, as I am shaking with both rage and fear. So I'm just going to make a list (you'll know I'm not a bot like the 5 star reviewers with their multiple !!! and perfectly capitalized "Neurologist") 1. Front desk staff are abrupt and didn't have information they should have received about my referral. I was told I would not be seen without my written referral although I was never instructed to bring it and my copy specifically says they were also mailed the authorization. They also tried to charge me a co-pay which was not required of me even after resolving the paperwork issue. 2. Patients were being counseled in the waiting room. It took all of my self-control to not overhear the woman who is "glad she found out in time" so she can "make preparations". That doesn't seem like a compassionate place to have… that kind of conversation. 3. My appointment was at 3, I left at 5. 4. The facility was outdated and cluttered...at best. 5. The doctor spent 2 minutes commenting on my reading material and my name (trust me, it's unremarkable). He spent 3 minutes being confused about my patient history, mostly getting hung up on the fact that my sleep study was not conducted in the last place that I lived. He spent 5 minutes taking a phone call. 10 minutes showing me around his "sleep clinic". And 5 minutes refilling my prescription (which I had expressed wasn't working) and offering me another drug (which I had already given reason for refusing). 6. Abruptly, he walked out of the room asking me to follow and was around the corner before I could cross the threshold. He then left the appointment without saying goodbye or shaking my hand, leaving me at the front desk without my belongings which we left in the exam room. 7. He boasted about the three different themed sleep study rooms, and the kitchen, and the shower (for your comfort) and the 3 different rooms, and the small kitchen, and the shower (for your comfort). Also each room is a different theme and each one has a TEDDY BEAR (for your comfort). I'll let you just conside that one.... 8. There are people in lab coats milling about everywhere and I'm not sure exactly where they fit in, but as he was discussing my prescription choices IN THE HALLWAY...there were three of them there unabashedly drinking in every word we said without ever having been introduced or asked to participate. 9. On the subject of HIPAA violations, I think there were several. The most awkward was when he was giving me the "grand tour" of the sleep clinic and walked straight into a room with a patient sitting on the bed speaking to another tech, student, assistant??? She looked at us like a deer in headlights and Dr. Bernad was like "AND THIS IS OUR DREAM ROOM and THIS LADY is here for a C-PAP" Ok, thanks for the info....not sure why I'm on this tour as you have my history, results of my previous sleep study and you haven't even taken the time to ask me what I'm doing here. The only silver lining of the experience was his assistant (resident, student???) who had excellent bedside manner and actually listened and responded appropriately to my responses and concerns. I'm not sure if my insurance company will authorize a change of provider, but I am never returning to that office for anything and certainly not for a sleep study. THERE'S A TEDDY BEAR ON EVERY BED! FOR YOUR COMFORT...

Went to his office with only honorable intentions of finding treatment for pain, Gave an honest and open past history and in my presence told his assistant "they come in here and give you some story", only after checking my past doc. did he treat me with any respect as a patient. treated me like a criminal and gave me a referral to doctors who didn't know him at all. AVOID IF YOU CAN!!!
