Dr. Robin E. Smith, MD

My son had a few seizures in a span of about a year. Dr. Smith put him on seizure meds, about 3 years ago, saying if he had no seizures for a 2 year span we could wean him off it. He's still had seizures at approximately the same frequency as before he was on meds and every time he had a new one we had to reset the "two year" clock. That's a convenient way to keep him hooked on meds that aren't working in the first place. The meds seem to also cause mood swings and when i suggested we take him off, they said no, "it's too dangerous, he could have a seizure and never wake up." I didn't buy into that scare tactic to keep him going to the doctor and hooked on meds, so I looked that up on google and the number of people who die from seizures compared to the number of seizures that occur around the world every day is astronomically low. It's like telling someone don't ever cross the street because people die crossing the street every day. Seems like you can't go to a doctor these days… without them finding something wrong with you and then they desperately want to get you to come back and make you a patient for life. Doctors have become sales people. Unfortunately my wife still believes in this nonsense and is going to keep my son hooked on these meds that have proven nothing. In the five years we've gone to Dr. Smith i've seen zero improvements. Conversely, my other son who used to have seizures hasn't had one in five years, and i refused to give him meds. Coincidence? Decide for yourself.

I'm really not sure where the reviews that say this guy is excellent are coming from. This guy is not excellent. He is not warm and caring. He seemed to be the exact opposite to us - cold and not caring. He wanted us to do unnecessary tests on my son (we went for a 2nd opinion). & he along with others read my son's EEG report incorrectly- saying it was abnormal and it was normal! Do yourself a favor and don't see him. However, the office staff were great at getting us in quicker and seemed very pleasant. But that unfortunately isn't enough when the doctor is anything but helpful.

So thorough!! what a joy to find a doctor who listens and seriously considers the appropriate treatment

My daughter had been suffering with headaches and missing school. We went from doctor to doctor. Finally the pediatrician suggested a neurologist. Dr. Smith diagnosed her with migraines. He prescribed a short term medication. She has since tapered off the medication and experiences few migraines.I appreciated the quick response to any message I left for Dr. Smith. The office staff are wonderful!!!
