Dr. Thomas J Holbrook, MD

Dr Holbrook ruined my life. I awoke from back surgery with severe foot drop. He avoided contact with me. I waited too long for malpractice suit- SHOULD have sought legal advice sooner. Do not let this doctor perform surgery on you!!

I walked in the hospital for an outpatient laminectomy. I woke up in recovery hours later being told that my spinal cord was damaged in surgery by Dr. Holbrook. I had to stay in the hospital for a month. He had no explanation of what happened to me. Almost 3 years later, I'm still in a wheelchair and haven't walked since the day I went to the hospital. He stopped treating me after he messed me up. Now I can't get any other doctor to treat me because they don't want anything to do with his botched job.

Performed spinal fusion and released me at Maximum Medical Improvement at 6 months despite complaints of new and worse pain. 2 years later I had a revision surgery to remove his work and get it done the right way. Why? NO FUSION from his surgery. Sounds like I'm not the only one.

went for an overnight stay for simple procedure and was unable to go home for 4 months He left blood on spinal cord which led to paralysis. Dr Rambo had to operate again about 7 hours later to try to clean up. No success. Coded 5 days later and was taken to ICU. Had to spend 4 months in rehab,handicap rails outside of house and inside of house. plus can't drive and will use a walker for the rest of my life. In severe pain. Dr (?) Holbrook had the audacity to say :it was an INCIDENT)

Had multiple level acdf surgery because of extreme pain on my left side. After mri was read by Dr Holbrook he said that I needed immediate surgery. Got me in with in a week and it was instantaneous relief. Would have gotten 5 stars across the board but his diagnosis and procedure was so quick I barely got to see him more than a few minutes. Looking like lumbar issues now and he will most assuredly be doing this surgery as well.

WHILE AT PALMETTO BAPTIST AND UNDER THE CARE OF DR. THOMAS HOLBROOK JR...I WAS THERE FOR A PLANNED L5-SI, FUSION....I AWOKE FROM SURGERY WITH PAIN FROM MY TAIL BONE UPWARDS THE MIDDLE OF MY SPINE....I HAD 2 UNEXPECTED INCISIONS AT MY THORACIC SPINE....THE SURGICAL NOTES STATED THAT 2 INCISIONS WERE USED IN CONNECTION WITH THE L5-S1 FUSION....THESE 2 STAB WOUNDS ARE AS MUCH 10 1/2 INCHES REMOVED FROM THE INTENDED LEVEL OF FUSION.....4 YEARS LATER I WOULD DISCOVER THAT SOMEONE HAD EVIDENTLY MISTAKENLY OPERATED ON MY THORACIC SPINE, INSERTING SCREWS.....THESE SCREWS ARE CLEARLY EVIDENT ON AN MRI TAKEN 4 YEARS AFTER SURGERY......NOT ONE DOCTOR THAT I HAVE GONE TO WOULD GO ON RECORD TO REPORT THIS MISTAKEN SURGICAL PROCEDURE....DOCTOR HOLBROOK AND HIS OFFICE FILED A LAW SUIT AGAINST ME, I GUESS IN HOPES OF SHUTTING ME UP......DOCTOR HOLBROOK NOR ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH HIS OFFICE HAS IN ANY WAY THAT I'M AWARE OF HAS TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS MISTAKEN SURGICAL PROCEDURE OR HAVE THEY… NAMED ANYONE ELSE AS THE GUILTY SURGEON....THERE WAS ALSO A SCREW THAT WAS QUESTIONABLY POSITIONED THAT WENT UNREPORTED.....I WAS RELEASED FROM HOLBROOKS CARE WITH MAXIMUM MEDICAL HEALING FOR THE LUMBAR FUSION, HOWEVER HIS REPORTS STATES THAT I WAS SLOWLY HEALING .....I DID NOT FEEL AS IF THE FUSION WAS WAS GOING WELL......AFTER BEING RELEASE I WENT FOR OTHER OPINIONS.....2 EXPERTS WITH THE SAME FILMS AS HOLBROOK SAW NO EVIDENCE OF A FUSION AT THE INTENDED LEVEL OF FUSION....

First off, I was told that I had to be there early for my appointment. I don't know why, because I sat there for an hour past my appointment time waiting to get in. Then when I finally got in I saw the PA, Bryce. He was nice and asked questions. However, when I finally got to see Dr. Holbrook I felt so rushed. He was in with me all of 3 minutes. I had thought that he'd explain what was going on with my back after he looked at the MRI, but he just said that I could get a steroid injection, but not the same day. I could get surgery but he didn't know if it would help. How about explaining to me what was going on with my back so I'd have some idea of what I was dealing with? I asked a couple of questions and got quick answers, but no explanation of how to deal with the pain or what a bulging disc means. This was a total waste of time and money, I could learn more by myself on the internet. I will never go back to Columbia Neurosurgical again. I felt that if he didn't expect… to get money from me for surgery, he didn't care about me.
