Dr. William Abraha Leone, MD

I've had 4 hip replacements by Dr. Leone. Let me begin by stating that he is an excellent surgeon... no question about that. Having said that... if you are about to have a total hip replacement and you know that one leg is shorter than the other (my left leg being 3/4" shorter than my right) you absolutely MUST have Dr. Leone verbally acknowledge that he will ADD that length to that shorter leg during surgery. Arguably THE MOST IMPORTANT thing for patients (like myself) with a leg-length discrepancy is to have both legs the same length post-surgery. It affects your entire life afterwards. A brief history: My first hip replacement with Dr. Leone was in 2011 (right hip... injured yrs. earlier in a car accident). My right leg was a good bit shorter than my left... which Dr. Leone recognized. --- After the surgery, it was still the same shorter length. Why, the leg-length discrepancy wasn't resolved, I don't know. 3 yrs. later that same right hip somehow became infected and… subsequently required a 2-stage surgery i.e. a 'temporary' hip initially put in.... followed by a 3-month wait to insure the infection was gone.... followed by the '2nd-stage' permanent hip put in. After the 'temporary' hip was put in, my leg length was once again, unchanged i.e. STILL SHORTER ... and that's when I very adamantly expressed to Dr. Leone that I absolutely needed to have both legs the same length! Subsequently, when the 2nd stage of the surgery was completed i.e. when the permanent hip was put in, voila! Both legs were finally equal lengths. Finally! Cut to now... Nov. 2023 my other hip (my left hip) needed to be replaced. --- In the dozen yrs. that had passed since my final right hip replacement, my left leg's length had shortened i.e. now 3/4" shorter than my right leg. I made Dr. Leone aware of it... his staff (who participated in accurately measuring my leg-length discrepancy) was aware of it... it was recorded in my chart. Post surgery, now my left leg's length is still unchanged i.e. STILL 3/4" shorter than my right leg. WHY I didn't DRILL HOME more adamantly (as before) to Dr. Leone that I NEEDED to have both legs equal lengths? --- Despite making sure he was aware of it, I assumed it would be standard operating procedure i.e. especially now, after my right leg's length was finally corrected. Clearly I was wrong. The reason I took this time to write/articulate my experiences here was not to disparage Dr. Leone (he is an excellent surgeon). It is to do my very best to let future hip replacement candidates know that they need to be as VOCAL AS POSSIBLE ... REPEATEDLY to ensure the Dr is going to address any leg-length discrepancy while doing your hip replacement. ---- If you don't, my experience is that you will have to live with it... and possibly for the rest of your life.

So far so good !! Four days out of total knee replacement. The Whole team has been great.

I had a total knee replacement one year and two months ago with Dr Leone. As a lifelong athlete, one of the biggest mistakes I ever made was going to Dr Leone, from the very beginning it was a critical error. First, he couldnt decide whether to do a partial or total knee up until the date of surgery. I had a very bad vibe at the surgery and tried to cancel but Dr Leone convinced me “It would be fine.” I dont doubt Dr Leone is proficient at hip replacement however my tkr experience and result was poor. Walking is painful after a few blocks, sleeping and sitting is uncomfortable. The worst part is Dr Leone didnt really care or even seem remotely interested until another top surgeon’s report was in his hand describing a problem.

I had a severe hip injury when I was 23 years old and it was repaired but I was told I needed a full hip replacement. I endured significant pain for many years and then at 46 years old the pain became unbearable and I could not endure It any longer, as I am quite active. I went to Dr. Leone and instantly felt if I had him replace my hip I was going to be great. Ironically my sister who was 51 needed her knee replaced and we thought let’s both go to Dr. Leone and do it together, on the same day. Needless to say, the surgery could not have been more wonderful as well as the experience for us both. I was walking the next day, without even needing the walker. I can do more now than I have been able to do in 20 years without one shred of pain, and the same for my sister. We feel so incredibly lucky to have gone to Dr. Leone and his wonderful team.

I am a physician and chose Dr Leone for my right hip replacement. From my first call to the office I was treated better than I ever have been by any other physician or their staff. I listened to him and why he chooses the methods and prosthesis he chooses to use and it all made sense. No hype just facts. My experience at Holy Cross was excellent. I went home the next day I am now one day shy of 4 weeks and have been able to workout pretty strenuously, while abiding by my hip precautions, for the last week and half. Still a little pain but I was expecting worse. Already at 50minutes on my stair stepper at about 70% of my maximal capacity in addition to my weight routine. Rowing to begin at 3 months; can’t wait. I am thrilled to be able to walk and play with my dogs outside. I haven’t for the last two years. My grandkids are coming down in a couple of weeks and am thrilled to be able to really enjoy them. Dr Leone is top notch in my book. His staff is amazing. As a… fellow doctor I would recommend him to all. I almost went to HSS where I trained and couldn’t be happier having made the decision to have Dr Leone treat me.

Dr Leone does not accept Medicare seniors. No dr in Florida should be able to practice when they discriminate. Certainly doesn't abide by the oath . Hippocratic oath money is more important then the health and welfare of senior citizens. False advertising.

Dr. Leone performed hip replacement surgery on me. If I could do over just one thing in my life, it would be meeting him. I have been in constant pain and walk with great difficulty using a cane for support. It was even told to me afterwards that it was his assistant that closed up the surgery. This after he collected his $5,000 fee in front. I went to see him about six months post-op and his "solution" was to have the unmitigated gall to "pitch me" for him to do the other hip. Thanks, but no thanks

Regardless what's been said in another post about The PMG and Dr. Leone; that person was a drug "Seeker". He's courteous and very professional. I was in the medical field for years. If someone bad mouth's him they probably were up to no good, or got busted on a count, urine, or didn't get drugs they wanted. They're taking care of me the way a pain mgt. business is supposed to. I'd recommend them 100%.

There are not enough words to express my gratitude and admiration for Dr. Leone. He is a wonderful man, an amazing doctor and my hero. A previous surgery went awry and knee pain never subsided while the outer part of my leg became deformed. A subsequent visit to another orthopedic doctor, with pre-op MRI and post surgical report in hand, left me disappointed when told nothing was wrong, go back to rehab. I waited another few months and after hearing wonderful things about Dr. Leone from a friend decided to pursue my pain. Dr. Leone diagnosed immediately, a MRI confirmed his suspicions and he performed additional surgery. I am 2 weeks post surgery, feeling better every day and no more deformity. Forget the rest, Dr. Leone is the best there is if you're in need of hip or knee surgery.

After 6 months of pain from a hip surgery that went poorly I needed a revision . DR Leone wast everyhing I hoped for and more. He was very involved with a very difficult surgery, warm and kind. Am walking again and fortunate to have made the connection.
