Dr. William Bradley Plauche, MD

I will start with the good. Dr Plauche was great. He is through and pleasant. I would recommend him. The negative. I had cataract surgery done and decided to take the leap and have the corrective surgery done at the same time. Biggest regret that I have made. I went from being nearsighted to being farsighted. My eyes feel tired all the time. I spent just under 8,000 dollars for this procedure and I regret it (the facility cost alone was astronomical). I have readers of all different strengths for different situations all over the house, office, car etc. I cannot eat without readers, I cannot drive without a bifocal of some sort. In addition to the expense of readers, I have spent a lot of money on different types of eye drops to relieve the dryness, pain and discomfort, which nothing has worked. I will eventually jump back into the eye glass arena and spend the money on something so I can see all the time without different readers all over the place. In hindsight, I would have… preferred being nearsighted, I will end up wearing glasses 24/7 again. Worst decision I ever made. If you are considering having this done, I recommend you have a better discussion with your doctor and ask the questions I did not, what does it really mean to have readers-to me it did not mean I needed them to see my food clearly when eating, what is the facility cost, what will my vision be after surgery, what are you correcting and how does that change my vision I have today. Again, I liked Dr Plauche, I just should have asked better questions and made a more educated decision. I regret the decision I made.

I was visiting a friend in McKinney, Texas, when I developed a prolapsed fat pad in my right eye. She insisted that I go to her ophthalmologist in Denison/Sherman. I called for an appointment on Friday and saw Dr. Plauche on Monday morning. He not only diagnosed what was wrong with my eye (I had no idea what it was), he didn't like the look of the optic nerves in both eyes. He asked to do further tests and discovered I have glaucoma in one eye and am borderline in the other eye. He advised me to see my regular ophthalmologist immediately upon my return home. I have an appointment next week. Dr. Plauche explained both problems thoroughly, in layman's language, and answered all of my questions. I was very impressed with his thoroughness in my examination and his manner. If I lived in Texas, I'd drive as far as needed to see him.

I waited an hour and they started taking patients that arrived after me. I tried to reschedule but no one came up to the window so I walked out.
