Dr. Zachary Gelfand Wright, MD

Wright was still a resident at the time of the patient's care. He was uncaring, unnecessarily brutal in his physical testing (i.e. harsh sternum rub and under finger-/toe-nail poking), sarcastic in dealing with family members, and expected pre-authorization for procedures without sufficient information at the time to substantiate the procedure - and acted miffed when said information was requested, unavailable, therefore procedure denied until more information was available, or irritated that he was asked to explain the procedure and its repercussions. There really is nothing good I can say about this person's care as a resident, except that it seemed that his mentor at the time was Dr. Alex Vandergift, a 5-star doctor/surgeon in all respects. (I could be wrong about the mentorship, but I certainly hope for Wright's sake that was the case.) Perhaps he performed well as a surgeon, but to my knowledge we did not receive that service from him. Hopefully, experience and… mentorship will have ameliorated some his arrogant, brusque, brutal, and uncaring nature that he presented then, as a resident. We cringed when we knew he was on call; I can only hope that has changed.
