He was the doctor who made able to pain free

I had my hip replaced a year and a half ago by Dr. Aaron Altenburg and had excellent results. I got my life back. At 3 weeks out I walked pain free 6 miles on flat ground, I ski toured a full season starting 3+ months out and by the end of the backcountry season was getting full days in (4,000 vert days) in the Tetons pain free. Mtn biking, rock climbing and surfing has all been great since that time. Recommending a surgeon to strangers on the internet is not something I take lightly, I waited to write this review to give hindsight a chance and to be sure of my opinion. I wanted a posterior placement as I had intense dysfunction in my rectus femoris and tensor fasciae latae from a prior failed hip surgery and I didn't want those muscles affected on this surgery. Aaron did a fantastic alignment using a posterior lateral placement. I am now 54 and am doing great. Completely 110% satisfied with Dr. Altenburg and his staff. My knee was too risky to be replaced due to the amount of scar tissue I had from previous surgeries. This was the assessment from another highly recommended surgeon I had researched in Boise, ID. I have no doubt this Doctor was a very fine surgeon. I was then recommended to Dr. Altenburg who performed my surgery. My new total knee couldn't be better. Now at the age of 55 my knee hasn't felt this good since I was 14 years old, prior to my first surgery. I can elk and chukar hunt with my new knee. I can kneel down and garden on it, and there is NO pain. I recommend Dr. Altenburg at every possible opportunity. I am having my other knee replaced and couldn't be more comfortable knowing I'm going to Dr. Altenburg

Dr. Altenberg did a total knee replacement in 2015, and my leg has turned inward ever since, and I have never been free from pain. At the moment, I am barely able to walk and need to use a cane or walker. I saw another doctor in Idaho Falls and am scheduled to have the failed knee replaced in January. I was also told that more bone than was necessary was removed, and I will now require the addition of rods and up to two weeks of rehab before I can go home.

Made me feel confident in his abilities from the first handshake. TKA is daunting, yet he and his staff made me feel that I made the right choice.

I have and will recomend Dr. Altenburg to anyone with questions about his ability for knee replacement surgery. He has replaced both of my knees one year apart. I have nothing but praise for the excellent job he did. His bedside manner is fantastic,including a call from him after you have been home for a few days.
