Dr. Aaron Oree Godwin, MD

He was inappropriate. He argued with me when I wanted to be an active participant in my mental health. I was patronized when I did my own research and presented it. He talked over me, as I was Trying to answering the questions HE asked. Even after I explained my trauma, he was cold and insensitive. His recommendations were like demands. He was also inconsistent from one encounter to another. He would say one thing and the next meeting, he wouldn’t honor it. I had just had a baby. He didn’t take my mental health seriously.

This doctor sent me to the mental hospital. I was sad and not suicidal. Horrific experience. Please don't go to him. He's dangerous.

Dr. Godwin involuntary put me in a mental institution because he somehow thought I was suicidal, but I wasn't. I told him repeatedly that I wasn't suicidal and he didn't believe me. The doctors at the hospital believed me and I was released 3 1/2 days later (the minimum time). Dr. Godwin's stupidity cost me (involuntary) vacation time off work, forcing me to cancel a trip to see my parents across country (hadn't seen them on 5 years) and I was not allowed to call my employer at the time of involuntary commitment (my phone was taken from me), so I had to beg my employer to keep my job. The implications of being in a mental facility caused my landlord to question whether I should be a tenant and I was asked to leave at the end of my lease (I was committed on the 1st of the month and rent was late). My car keys were taken from me and, when I returned to my car after involuntary hospitalization, my car had been hit while in the parking lot of the medical facility. Dr. Godwin is… irresponsible and careless. The worst kind of doctor.

Dr. Godwin cared about me and helped me learn to care about myself. He listened to me and was able to uncover the underlying problem causing me to feel worthless. He was always available and very responsive; even when I was an emotional mess. I recommend him to anyone who was like me, asking the question, "Why is this happening to me?" When Dr. Godwin revealed the true source of my depression, I was able to work on acceptance, forgiveness and move on. I thought I wanted my old self back, but now, I love my new self and my new life.

In the past 3 years, due to insurance changes and hospitalizations, I have seen several different psychiatrists and Dr. Godwin is the best dr. I have had. He is kind, patient and a great listener. His explanations for treatment are covered well and he answers questions thoroughly. Unfortunately, many psychiatrists are either dismissive or disrespectful, but Dr. Godwin has been warm & caring. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Godwin is a breath of fresh air in the maze of psychiatrists I have seen inpatient and outpatient for my bipolar, anxiety & ADHD. He listens with intent and is comforting, yet realistic with his recommendations and explanations for treatment. He asks questions relevant to my concerns and doesn't cut me off when I speak. His diagnostic & observational skills and are excellent, giving me the confidence I need on my recovery journey.

I am writing this to express my gratitude for Dr Godwin. He is a wonderful and kind doctor. I feel that he cares about his patients and always took the time to make sure I understood what was going on. I would not hesitate in recommending him to anyone that I know. Excellent doctor!

Dr Godwin is truly the kind of psychiatrist you want your loved one to see. He is thoughtful and careful to take all your history in mind when coming up with a recommendation. Always respectful and always kind. Dr Godwin is very smart and well trained. He finds clear basic ways to explain complicated information to me. That is so appreciated. Thank you Dr Godwin for being such a good doctor. Thank you for your time and your kindness.

I recently had an appt. with Dr. Godwin and found him to be a wonderful doctor. He showed great interest in my issues and was willing to discuss them as long as needed. I will definitely keep him as my doctor and will recommend him to anyone requiring help.
