Dr. Adam John Rovit, MD

If you are told to wait on a call from Norma to schedule a procedure for your child, save yourself the time and find a new Ophthalmologist. We were told that our infant needed a procedure done by their eye surgeon, and the sooner the better for a successful procedure. Norma is the one who schedules pediatric procedures and she was supposed to call us within the week to schedule us with the eye surgeon. Well, she never called. My husband and I have left her numerous messages in the past two months and have never once spoken with Norma. Not sure if she even exists! Every time we called the front desk, they would just transfer us back to Norma’s voicemail. After 3 months of waiting for a procedure to be scheduled that was supposed to be done ASAP, we have found a new Ophthalmologist. Don’t waste your time for your child’s well being.

Took my son, who has high functioning autism l, to Dr. Rovit. They were very impatient with him. We recently moved to the area. My son has been having yearly eye exams for the past 5 years and when given time and patience has never had a problem accurately telling people “whether 1 or 2 is clearer” type of thing. His assistant was impatient with my son. We recently noticed that he had been failing the convergence test at home (I’m a school nurse) and when tested in the office he failed but the assistant argued that he had passed. Dr Rovit hardly even looked at my son and when told that the prescription he was writing was “way off from his last prescription” said that he would just fudge in the middle. Now I have no trust whether they give my son the correct prescription or not. Would not recommend Dr Rovit or Shepherd Eye Center.

My son and I have both been seeing Dr. Rovit for about 3-4 years and we both had eye correction surgery by him. He definitely comes off a little arrogant and short with words but he is very informative and knows what he's doing. He did wonders for both of our eyes and I'm beyond pleased with him.

Didn't do anything first visit. Paid $170 then had me return in 2 weeks. Wait time is long. Front desk rude. Bad overall experience at Shepard eye

Well it was my first time taking my child to Dr. Rovit. I was somewhat weary due to the negative reviews that I have read but I figured I should at least see for myself. His staff was super friendly. I was very pleased with the entire staff. Smiles, friendly, and didn't make me feel like I was a a nuisance like some staff makes people feel when you ask questions. I went to the southwest location on near the southern hills hospital. Even the guy in the eyeglass department was super friendly. That's a huge plus right there in my book. Dr. Rovit entered the room to see my daughter and he seemed very friendly, smiled, gave eye contact and also asked questions. His personality is very laid back yet professional he performed many tests in my daughter to check all angles of my daughter and filled me in with what was going on as he checked her. My daughter seemed calm and secure being he was showing her flashing toys and things to keep her entertained during the process. The bad reviews I have… read are very unfortunate because if it wasn't for me just biting the bullet and going to him I would have never went to him. Unfortunatly things are based on reviews nowadays so everyone needs to be careful the way they act, or treat patients otherwise they're defiantly in jeopardy of losing patients or having people avoid going to them. I am going to continue to take my 6yr old to see Dr Rovit. However I am crossing my fingers that future visits to him will remind pleasant and I have no reason to go elsewhere. Finding a good doctor now days is very hard. Scary but true. Thanks Dr. Rovit

First of all, I am not one to write a review as I am too busy taking care of my children, but I was compelled to write this review because my visit today was very upsetting. I took my child for a follow-up appointment (so this was my 2nd time with this doctor). We waited about 45 minutes before seeing the doctor (this was shorter than our first visit, which was about an hour). First, a technician saw my child and had him read the letters out loud as one eye was covered. After the test, we were seated in another waiting area to see the doctor, which took another 20 minutes. The doctor came in (without bothering to close the door for privacy), sat down in front of his computer, and grabbed tissue to blow his nose. I watched and waited for him to SANITIZE his hands, but he DIDN'T. After looking at his computer, he then concluded that my son's vision did not change from his last visit and that he didn't need new eyeglass prescription. He then got up and left. I was too stunned to… even say anything! I then asked his assistant whether he was suppose to check his eyes at all and she replied that he only does it during the annual exam. BUT THE DOCTOR DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT CHILD'S EYES AT ALL!!! HE DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT HIS FACE!!! He just sat down and looked at his computer!!! So why did I even go to this visit? I felt like I was cheated....how can a doctor not take the time to look at my child's eyes? He just came in the room, looked at his computer, blow his nose, and not even look at my child's eyes???? If he had time to blow his nose, he should definitely had time to at least sit in front of my son and physically look at his eyes. But no!!! He had more time blowing his nose more than once. I don't get it. My child is diagnosed with amblyopia. So a doctor will rely entirely on a technician's test of reading letters to verify that my son's eyes/eyesight is the same from 6 months before? Maybe I am completely making a big deal out of this, but it just feels wrong when a doctor does not look at his patient at all. I WILL DEFINITELY NEVER COME BACK TO SEE THIS DOCTOR. I will need to cancel my own appointment for myself and that of my other children from this office as I was very disappointed from the service that I got today. I will never set my foot in their office again. If a doctor can't even look at my child's eyes or sanitize their hands after blowing their nose, what kind of doctor are they???
