Dr. Alexander James Gamble, DO

Dr. Gamble is a truly remarkable neurosurgeon—he has given me my active lifestyle back, and I finally feel like myself again. He performed a five-level lumbar spine fusion for me, and the results have far exceeded my expectations. Three years earlier, I had undergone a one-level fusion in Boston. That experience came with a very difficult recovery and poor outcome. In contrast, the surgery with Dr. Gamble was significantly less painful, and the recovery smoother. I’m off pain medications and have returned to activities I love—swimming, biking, playing pickleball, and strength training. Dr. Gamble is not only incredibly skilled, but also personable and compassionate. I have deep respect and gratitude for the years of training and clinical experience that have shaped his expertise. Dr. Gamble is hands down the most likeable Dr. I have ever seen. I needed extensive back surgery. From my first to my last visit with Dr. Gamble, he was great. He explains everything in detail, making the whole idea of surgery less daunting. He is a very skilled surgeon and a really nice man. I feel very lucky to have chosen him for my surgeon.

I met Dr. Gamble when he was a resident surgeon at North Shore University Hospital. In 2016, along with Dr. Latefi, Dr. Gamble performed a craniotomy on my 86 year old Mom due to a brain bleed. In addition to his superb surgical skills, his deep empathy and kindness made an indelible impression on me. He came out to the waiting room to talk to me after the surgery, asking me personal questions about my Mom. What did she do for a living? What kind of person is she? He visited my mom in her room during recovery, using the flashlight on his iPhone to look at her pupils. I’m happy to say that my Mom just celebrated her 91st birthday in almost perfect health. What a great man. I wish him and his family well!

Dr. Gamble is a caring, kind, empathetic and extremely competent neurosurgeon. He took the time to explain everything and answer all questions. He is the most impressive surgeon I have met. I had total confidence in all his abilities. He is a gift in his field. TY Dr. Gamble
