Alexis Lorraine Grucela, MD

She is very Jekyll/Hyde. Sometimes fine, as some reviews describe, sometimes rude, condescending, and excessively exasperated when you ask one single question, as other reviews describe. It was my first negative experience I've had with a doctor (and my age, I've had quite an assortment of doctors).

I read all these reviews before meeting with her for the first time. I was not happy, then I met her. She could not have been more pleasant and thorough with me. I guess we all have bad days, and I wonder about the people who wrote bad reviews.

We have had two appointments before surgery with Dr. Grucela. The first to explain our options on surgery and the findings and the second to answer any questions. Her staff was friendly and caring, and Melissa, the organizer helped us to see every pre op doctor we needed for approval. Surgery still takes some serious recovery, but robotic is the way to go if at all possible. And Dr. Grucela is excellent. She is renowned by other doctors we visited. She called us as soon as pathology reports were in. We could not have asked for better care from a talented doctor and her efficient staff.

Arrogant, rude, incompetent, bad bedside manners, no compassion, sloppy in time management, always late for appointments up to one hour, .... yells at her patients if they complain of pains. She is a highly trained technician not a doctor. Not recommended

Maybe she was having a bad day...or so i thought, apparently based on other reviews here— im not alone. On the day I saw her, she showed little compassion, barely listened to me, and said a few things that were downright treacherous. That being said, no reason to believe she isn’t knowledgeable or good at her job. I dont think people are inherently bad and i think doctors are under appreciated, so if I had to guess, she’s probably overworked, overbooked, and trying to navigate these mentally challenging times like everyone else. I hate writing negative reviews but kt felt unethical to not warn others. My main hope actually is that she comes across these reviews and feels remorse and motivated to improve her manners. And if shes under s lot of stress. hopefully she gets the support and help she needs and deserves.

I landed on this page because I was looking for Dr. Grucela's contact information. I am genuinely shocked by the bad reviews. Dr. Grucela saved my life with her diagnosis and her surgical skills are amazing. I had 3 surgeries in 2019: ileostomy, colon removal, and ostomy reversal. She was always attentive, friendly, and even cracked a few jokes. She made me feel very comfortable and answered all questions no matter how ridiculous (because I was nervous). Surgery and recovery went exactly the way she said that it would and I was able to reach her by phone if I had any questions or issues that arose. If you want a great surgeon, call her. If you want a hug, call your mother.

This Dr found what 3 others missed a cancer for that I as her daughter am greatful. Why she did treated my mother with disrespect talking down to her is HER problem not my mother's any more. This doctor has issues she should leave them out of the office!

She has a very rude manner and her staffs are all non-responsive to anything you say. Literally ignore anything you say. She has done nothing but diagnosed my condition- hemorrhoids. The bill was $780. Her banding skills are subpar- the banding came off right away in 2 hrs. She yelled at me and said she doesn’t do more than 1, but she did it because “I looked so concerned about the severity and mad at the high bill.” What? Do what’s right. I know it can be done multiple. She is rude, mean, yells at her patients and very condescending. I can get all this under $500. I was stupid to go from a referral by another stupid doctor.

Waited over an hour to be seen. After conducting an exam, Dr. Grucela gave her diagnosis which included having surgery. I asked her a bunch of questions and her answers were short and vague or unanswered. I kept persisting and she opened a drawer, giving me a stack of printouts. Then she ushered me to the person that makes surgical appointments. I did not want her operating on me when she didn't even want to answer questions in person! I went to another specialist for a second opinion, who told me her diagnosis was incorrect and that surgery was not needed.

I've been seeing Dr. Grucela for about a year with no progress. Her bedside manner is awful and I am always left feeling uncomfortable after she performs procedures on me. She yelled at me for not getting better and told me to see other doctors without giving me any references. She definitely does not take into account the patient's concerns when making her diagnosis and treatment plans. I am not sure why she has chosen this profession if she does not want to deal with people who are in pain and help them feel better. I also feel that she usually pushes for unnecessary and invasive procedures. She does not want to take the time to talk to me about my symptoms at all. I would NOT recommend her to anyone.
