Dr. Alison Urdan, PsyD

Alison lacks the basic ethics and neutrality to hold a parenting coordinator role. She takes sides swiftly, bends the knee to whomever is financing her, and creates more divide with families when she should be helping families improve coparenting. BEWARE, she is not a good person and is 100% driven by money (and wine)

I would highly recommend Alison. She has been custody evaluator on my case that’s been going on for a long time Several professionals have been involved and none were as focused on my child as Alison was. She got to the truth about the game playing that’s been going on. Others made it about me or my ex. Alison made it about my son. She’s a child advocate.

My attorney recommended Alison to me. I interviewed her and knew that she would be able to help our family. She is not afraid of bullies. She wants to meet with the kids to hear what they want in order to incorporate that into the orders. Much to my surprise, my ex's attorney uses her also on his other cases. She is fair and smart and she puts the kids first. I feel lucky to have met her.

This woman has literally saved my children. She has a heart of gold and I can say from experience has nothing but my children's best interest in mind.

If I could give Alison 5+ stars I would. I highly recommend her. She has helped me through separation and divorce from an abusive husband. Before I met with Alison for our first session she sent me such kind and supporting text messages. She is helping me make it through a stressful court matter. If I need anything and can’t wait for our next session she sends me an immediate response and returns calls when I ask. I look forward to my weekly sessions with her and always feel better and hopeful after we meet. Alison truly cares and often asks about my kids- she’s understanding, supportive and compassionate I’m glad I found her- and grateful that she accepts Medi Cal when so many therapists with her level of experience don’t any more.

Alison was appointed by the court to be our child custody recommending mediator. Over the course of of a few years, she met individually with all three of our small children and (in my opinion) made the experience as comfortable as possible for them. She also met with me and my children's father together numerous times. She helped us discuss really hard topics during a very stressful time in our lives. I'm surprised by the content in the negative reviews. I found that she always stayed focused on what would be in the children's best interest and never took sides with either parent. She took the time to talk with numerous third parties, like teachers or other therapists, and then made a pretty solid/comprehensive recommendation to the court. My only fault is that as she is in such high demand, she is pretty busy. I think that because she was so busy the recommendation took a while to write and and had a few typos in it.

We have worked with Alison for several years now as our court appointed mediator. It is very hard for quarreling ex's to be objective and put the childrens needs first. Thats exactly what Alison helped us do! She would listen to both sides but would always decide based on what was best for the kids. The kids also developed an excellent rapport with her and were able to confide in her. She is extremely responsive and has even helped resolve issues over the weekend when we were desperate. We spent so much time, money and effort with other court counselors/evaluators. Wish we had found her sooner!

I can't believe these offer reviews that I'm reading! This woman is wonderful not only is she a wonderful person but she has helped my boys so much, I don't even know if my boys would be halfway where they are today without her. I've had several therapists in my life and she is by far number one on my list! Just love her!

Do NOT believe any of these negative reviews about Alison Urdan. Whatever disgruntled parent is trying to create a smear campaign about Alison Urdan needs to STOP and think about their conscience. I don’t know where I would be without Alison. She helped me with a very challenging situation regarding my son and his father. She is fair, honest, principled and has the child’s best interest at heart. She’s open minded, listens well, and doesn’t shy away from or is intimated by conflict. There should be more Alisons in this field. It is an extremely difficult job to perform and she clearly is one of the few who really CARES and keeps the child’s best interests at center. That is hard to find as many are performing that function because they need a job. She’s not. She wants do what’s RIGHT to help children who don’t have a voice and are often being abused, when most of the time the issue is really between the parents and the child becomes a pawn. Alison becomes the scapegoat due… to the parent’s inability to take responsibility for themselves. These negative reviews sound like someone isn’t getting what he/she wants and can’t influence Alison so she’s trying to make Alison’s life miserable. And this person is spending an awful lot of time at this. I was referred to Alison separately from her online reviews and she did a wonderful job. There was a lot of conflict in my situation and while there wasn’t always agreement with my spouse we both felt that Alison was the right person to help and were glad we found her.
