Dr. Alissa Marie Lukas

I strongly advise against seeing Dr. Lukas. After nearly ten months of therapy, she dropped me as a patient based on one venting session, completely disregarding the progress we had made. She told me she was holding space for me while I was emotionally dysregulated, allowing me to speak for twenty minutes without any input. When she finally asked how I felt, I responded that it felt mindless and in response, she said that our therapy styles were not compatible. It is disheartening to realize how shallow her commitment was to take one difficult session as grounds to abandon a patient in crisis. Instead of working through the moment, she kept me on the call for the full session length under the pretense of helping, only to blindside me at the end. When I expressed my need for a space to vent rather than being met with triggering responses, she led me to believe that was what she was providing, only to abruptly cut ties with the excuse of different therapy styles. It felt unethical for… her to sit silently for twenty minutes, offering no professional guidance, just to use that as justification to drop me. Additionally, she consistently started sessions 5-10 minutes late and ended before 50 minutes, failing to provide the full time I was paying for. If you are looking for a therapist who is actually committed to their patients, especially during moments of distress, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
