Healthgrades Review for Dr. Amparo Gutierrez ????? Not Recommended for Complex Neurological Cases I am a patient with secondary progressive MS transferred to Dr. Gutierrez after my previous neurologist retired. Over several months I experienced a consistent pattern of concerning care that I feel other patients should know about. Dr. Gutierrez prescribed a muscle relaxant without reviewing my cardiac history despite a documented heart condition that is a known contraindication. I identified this myself before taking the medication. She subsequently prescribed a second medication which her own clinical notes documented as having previously caused severe hypotension requiring near-hospitalization, without acknowledging that history. I requested EMG guidance for spasticity injections three times — twice in writing. This was dismissed for my first round, resulting in significant muscle substitution and additional injury. It was reluctantly accommodated for my second round only after… persistent advocacy. When I contacted her by phone in tears describing an inability to sleep in a bed for weeks, multiple ER visits, and serious functional decline, she expressed no compassion or concern. The conversation was condescending, dismissive, and at times argumentative. Urgent portal messages documenting safety incidents went unanswered for 48 hours. My new neurologist’s team immediately identified treatment options never discussed during my time with Dr. Gutierrez and provided appropriate specialist referrals within a single visit. Patients with complex conditions requiring careful medication management and responsive communication should seek care elsewhere.

Dr G is an amazing doctor! I moved to Florida in 2018 and had many neurologists that were down right awful! Then, I met Dr G and her staff. She takes her time with me and my family and explains everything. Any questions I have she answers in office or if I think of anything when I am at home, I email her and she is quick (within 2hrs most of the time) to reply. She is by far the BEST neurologist I have ever had! I was Dx in 2009 with RRMS. Dr G takes great care of me!

STAY AWAY FROM AMPARO GUTIERREZ. Amparo does not deserve the title of doctor. She was narcissistic, arrogant, demeaning and uneducated. She told me everything was in my head and caused by extreme anxiety. She never looked at my files. I live with chronic genetic conditions and have multiple specialists who oversee my care. I am blessed to have doctors who believed in me, listened to me and became part of my health care team. Amparo is not one of those doctors. She did not even get inside the room before she started with sarcastic remarks ending with everything was in my head and I was not diagnosed with anything but anxiety. She left by throwing a piece of paper at her checkout staff member while making reference to my referral. I did not deserve the treatment she gave to me, but even more so, her staff did not deserve the treatment she gave to them. I had the ability to tell Amparo her behavior was disheartening to say the least and I was ending my appointment with her. I had the… ability to walk out and go home. Her staff does not have that ability and their lives depend on their paychecks. I made sure to let her staff know they were all amazing. The staff at both the Gore office and the Osceola office were top notch. You couldn't ask for a better clerical staff. My heart breaks for them because they are stuck with Amparo on a daily basis. I called both Orlando Health's Corporate office and Cigna while still sitting in the parking lot. I filed an ethics complaint on Amparo with both companies. I will be disputing my 50 dollar copay with my bank. I pray Orlando Health looks at the online reviews of Amparo and puts her through additional training in regards to how she treats her patients. Anyone can get a degree but not everyone can be a great doctor. NO PATIENT SHOULD EVER BE TREATED THIS WAY. Amparo had two choices, one to be a good doctor and one to be a narcissistic, arrogant and demeaning doctor. Amparo chose to be the latter. My review does not stand alone. Please read all the reviews on Amparo and remember our experiences if you decide to schedule an appointment with her. I highly advise against making her part of your medical team.There are too many good doctors out there to choose ones like Amparo.

I was referred to Dr. Gutierrez by my Neurologist to be evaluated for ALS. She was extremely rude during the entire appointment and after the appointment, she tells me that I have ALS and I will die in 3-5 years, and good luck finding someone to take care of me in Baton Rouge and she left out of the room. That was after I witnessed her call my Neurologist clinic and she was extremely rude with everyone she spoke with. I am mortified, extremely hurt and disappointed in This doctors lack of professionalism and compassion. I will there was someone above her that I could report her to, so that she would be disciplined, or at least made accountable for her behavior so that no one else would have to go through what I had to go through.

Dr. G. is an excellent neurologist who takes the time to explain your condition and has the compassion and knowledge to explain in a way that is simple to understand.

Misdiagnosed me as its all in my head a few years ago. Now I am disabled from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Lol. Terrible.

Great doctor very much on demand. Worth the wait

Never spends enough time always in a rush! Does NOT make me feel comfortable. Acts like she knows my body better than I do! She needs to find compassion. If you go to her you will never get ahead in your condition. She just doesnt care!

Always seems to be in a big rush! My biggest problem is that this dr. makes me feel like I'm waisting her time. She does not ask many questions and when I ask she acts controlling.
