Dr. Andrea Despina Olanescu, MD

Not sure how this place has any positive reviews other than them being fake. Most awful experience at a GYN I've had, I should have been suspicious when they had every appt. slot open... they don't. They are just farming for patients and will have you piled in the waiting room (there were 19 patients waiting) with no AC. They have you fill out a pile of paperwork, half an hour later you get called to basically do an intake? Where you repeat everything you put on the forms to someone (respectfully) who is not a doctor/nurse. You are expected to go into detail about your symptoms and health history out in the open with a dozen people walking by and another patient sitting 3ft from you doing the same. I had to out right say I did not feel comfortable explaining anything further without privacy. Wait another half hour or so and you get taken into an exam room. A step BACK in time, and even hotter. The 5min I spent with Dr. Olanescu were "good" but unclear on what and why things were… happening. Got sent to another waiting area, where in the room with an open door 2 women were on speaker phone yelling about how to code someone's test through insurance, for the 20 min I was waiting, in violation of HIPPA as they mentioned the patient name, DOB, and several IDC codes including what they were for to the whole office to hear. The next tech? I say tech because I am not confident she was a Dr., no name tag, no introduction, seemed to be a language barrier that was unsettling when you are there to see a doctor, probably why she didn't explain at all what she was going to do (because she couldn't). All she said was, I kid you not, "do you need to pee pee?" and "undress and coverup." When I asked why we were doing this exam, she just didn't answer, expressed I wished Dr. Olanesco had explained what we were doing, no response. At which point I felt like I was not getting care by a qualified person and got dressed to leave. The whole place seems like a an insurance claim mill, making excessive appointments, with only a few minutes with the doctor, ordering extra test that aren't need without explanation, and when I asked How I would get my results, the receptions quickly said "we'll make an appointment in 2 weeks." Taken aback, again, I said the doctor said they would come back within a week, and she then wanted to make an appointment next week. I expressed I would like my results and if something was wrong I'd make a follow up appt, they insisted you have to make an appointment (more to bill insurance and then fall back on the patient). I don't believe they can refuse to give you your results - left with such a bad taste in my mouth and nauseous from the heat. Pass on this place!

Dr. Andrea O made what should’ve been the most happy day of my life, the birth of my beautiful son, a living nightmare. Despite the fact I am now four months post partum her careless mistakes are still haunting me. Due to her reckless practice I just had to endure another surgery, to try and fix what Dr. Andrea O has done to my body. Let me first begin with the fact I was caught blindsided by Dr. Andrea O, because I was Under the impression my OBGYN was going to deliver my baby. I spent 9 months preparing with him. Dr. Andrea O was not my original OBGYN from day one of when I convinced. Dr. Andrea O unfortunately happened to be the on call for the night I went Into delivery because my OBGYN was celebrating his holiday. That was the first shock of the day, but you hope that any Dr would be professional and understand the absolute dire sensitivity of such a procedure as giving birth, for mother and baby. The labor process itself was a complete and utter disaster. Dr. Andrea O showed… absolutely no sign of human compassion and allowed me to push for an excruciating four hours out of the 24 hours I was in actual labor. Dr. Andrea O acted negligently as she maybe only visited me once before the final push and final massive cut down, from which I’m still healing. Besides the fact that I am super small to begin with and should of been rerouted to c section well in advance. My son is my first born and I trusted trained professionals to make these calls and know better. Instead I was painfully pushing for about four hours, which is a threat to my life and my baby. To top it off only the nurses were present and no doctor till the last minute. My birth should’ve been properly overseen and perhaps then they would’ve realized I was due for an emergency c-section. Dr. Andrea O was careless to say the least, and demonstrated her lack of care throughout. I know she was the on call for that night and had several other mothers delivering besides me so no devoted attention was granted on her end. However, pushing for thay many hours can result in severe consequences and I felt completely helpless. When she finally did arrive, she ran in last minute cut me to about a 3rd or 4th degree cut, stitched me in seconds and left to cater to the rest of the floor. Again, such a life altering moment she seemed to do without any care or concern and unfortunately I am left to still suffer the consequences. To my understanding after visiting several specialists after my Episiotomy close up was done “sloppy” and came undone about two weeks later post delivery. Another nightmare. I ran To my obgyn due to major pain and discomfort and what I got as a comment from him was “in my 28 years of work I have never witnessed this”. I said To myself “oh how reassuring”. Could you imagine as a first time mother to hear those words? My body was suffering still and I was lost and confused. My current OBGYN didn’t diagnose me with an infection of which I had for a while but told me to cleanse myself with peroxide. So , again I trusted professionals and did as told. Also my current OBGYN didn’t want to restitch me right away and thank god he didn’t because restitching something like this would of only have made this reoccur again. I was then sent to a specialist who is a urologist reconstructive surgeon and even the surgeon confirmed that I should have had a c section. Basically I just had sphincteroplasty, posterior colporrhaphy surgery and was told the lining between my butt and vagina was paper thin and needed reconstructing. So to sum it all up this doctor, Dr Andrea O butchered me, I would absolutely not ever recommend her to a single soul, and I wish I had never met her. Simply put she rushes her work, she is negligent and beyond careless, complete lack of expertise. She was in and out definitely didn’t assess the damage she has causes. Now, as a new mother caring for a newborn son, I have to heal for another 6-8 weeks, due to scar tissue growing in incorrectly and causing a bridge I needed to be cut opened again and have been suffering with pain both emotionally and physically. Not to mention the four months immediately following the birth where I was told to basically suffer through and try healing on my own. As a new mother my priority should only be my son. Besides the fact that i had to stop breastfeeding so shortly about a week in due to pain from the loose stitching that came undone i was just completely traumatized and must say i question ever getting pregnant again after this experience. I wish to devote all my time to being a new mother and I’m devoting so much of it to correcting the mistakes OTHERS have made on my body. No new mother should ever have to deal with this. I dont Wish This on anyone and wish doctors would take their job a bit more serious. The enD.

I went in for a regular wellness exam that should've been fully covered by my insurance, but their office is charging me over $250 for unnecessary ultrasounds and for making me come in for a separate visit just to get my test results. I've been trying to get in touch with their manager for months and nobody will return my calls. Finally, this week I needed a refill on my birth control prescription and the pharmacy told me they haven't been able to get a hold of anyone for the past 5 days. I had to go through Planned Parenthood instead. I would avoid this place at all costs.

This place is very disorganized, and unprofessional. The wait time is about 4 hours, the room is so full to the point people are standing very close together. It doesnt seem like theyre following any COVID guidelines. When you speak on the phone with front desk they’re rude and keep brushing you off. The doctors are terrible they have very bad attitude Dr. Olanescu doesn’t give you the time of day she brushes you off and doesn’t hear out anything you tell her. She has a very noncaring attitude, I asked for a certain birth control she left work without sending out my prescription, then she took the whole day the following day to send it in and sent in the weong prescription. I had to call and argue for the RIGHT prescription. The staff just argues amongst eachother, and speaks down on clients when they walk away. Overall a terrible place I wouldn’t trust them with anything.

I went to the clinic with pain and spotting. I had two appointments with the doctor but I wasn’t able to meet her. The firs time I went they’ve told me she’s not in and I was asked if I’m ok to be seen by someone else . I accepted but her lack of knowledge was obvious. I don’t even know who she was she didn’t introduce herself. I gave the urine test and somehow they’ve lost it. The second time I suppose to go to have my results explained by the dr , I was called few hours before and informed that the dr had some family problems and she can’t see me again. At least they called ahead this time. After more than an hour on the phone with them I was able to go in and have my medical info released. I asked if they can forward the info to a different gynecologist but I was told it’s not possible. So I decided to pick it up myself.I’m very disappointed with this clinic.

Dr Olanescu is very caring, attentive and knowledgeable. She takes time to listen and explains everything to you . She is a very good doctor.

I was on Medicaid at the time and was getting an IUD inserted. They over charged my insurance which I found out later and also charged me out of pocket for anesthesia, which I additionally found out was an overcharge. A pregnancy test is mandatory before the IUD insertion, and the anesthesiologist was about to put me under, before I protested, saying I haven't had the mandatory pregnancy test yet. I woke up in the dark alone after my IUD insertion because the office was closing...talk about scary! My ankle was mysteriously bleeding and had bled so much that my sock and jeans were soaked through, yet no one could tell me why I was bleeding. I also woke up in excruciating pain, far beyond the "cramps" that were described before the procedure. I fear that Dr. Olaneacu is taking advantage of low income women, many of whom didn't speak English as a first language (I saw this in the waiting room, as the staff was unable to communicate with them) and are giving them awful care. Please, under… no circumstance, go to this doctor.

What a horrible experience I had with this woman. First off, she is not my OBGYN. She is affiliated with the office I go to and is contracted by them to do deliveries at Queens Presbyterian. I’m a FTM which she was aware of so clearly I had never pushed a baby out. While pushing she was gettin annoyed about me “not pushing right” and would end up walking away and sitting on the chairs in the chairs in the delivery room. After pushing about 3x, the RNs took over bc the doctor never got up from the chair. My mother and fiancé were in the room with me and my fiancé saw her on Instagram as oppose to doing her job and delivering my son. The RNs should be getting paid her salary bc she did absolutely nothing, except stitch me up. She never spoke to me about the after care of my stitches, why she was stitching or what to expect. Then it came time to get my son circumcised. Well, that never happened. Olenescu was too busy to do it in my 3 days at the hospital. She’s a poor excuse for a dr… and should be ashamed of how she handles patients. We are all more than just a paycheck.

Every call takes up to 30 minutes. They put you on hold for 20 minutesand then you lucky if someone answers it. Usually they just hang up. What's up with it?
