Dr. Fox did my spine surgery 7-7-2011 while he was at Sutter hospital in Sacramento. From day 1 I was in severe pain and it never stopped while I was seeing him. He told me there was no reason for it and that I just wanted disability! Last thing in the world I wanted. He was so arrogant and full of himself I never went back to him. A year later I switched to Kaiser where I had my final surgery. Turns out he left a sharp piece of spinal bone sticking out and by the time they got to it I was almost crippled for life. The guy is a joke!! I have all medical records to prove this review.

Really disappointed. Dr. Fox preformed my L3 to L5S1 spinal surgery while with Sutter in Sacramento, since moving to LA, he's now declining to see me as a patient because it's a "liability" for him. I'm in pain just trying to get out of bed, in my second trimester of pregnancy, and now I have to find a new neurologist to figure out a safe birth plan. If you're a young female, and want to have children, pick a different neurosurgeon. Heck, if you want your doctor to be around to support you down the road, pick a different neurosurgeon, or pray he doesn't move again!

Dr Fox inspires confidence! After the disc in my neck herniated (C7/T1), I experienced daily debilitating pain and progressive weakness of my arm and hand. I was desperate for help, especially as the weeks marched on with no improvement. After asking for a second opinion, I met Dr Fox. I had the surgery and could not be more pleased! Eight months afterwards, I am 95% better and no longer have ANY pain. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr Fox and his amazing nurse Natalie.

Three weeks ago Dr. Fox performed a Laminectomy on my husband's spine. As a result his problems with walking have improved tremendously. Thanks Dr. Fox for giving him the chance to improve our lifestyle. My husband is 82 yrs. young. Dr. Fox is a caring, courteous, and skilled surgeon. I would definitely recommend him. After seeing numerous "specialists" over the course of a year and a half, with opinions ranging wildly, Dr. Fox immediately identified the problem and cured my 83 old mother of her chronic leg pain. He is experienced, kind and a skillful surgeon, and it is because of him that my mom has a new lease on life!

Dr. Andrew Fox is a very kind, patient and professional neurosurgeon. Dr. Fox answered all my questions thoroughly and spent as much time with me as I needed to ease my worries. I had an L4–L5 fusion six weeks ago and my pain has subsided by about 85%, and I continue to improve each day. I am grateful to Dr. Fox for a successful surgery. I can now enjoy my daily activities due to the fact that I am no longer in persistent and debilitating pain. Dr. Fox’s staff is very friendly and professional and all of my appointments I have been on time. Highly recommended.

Dr Fox provided excellent care in an emergency and follow up situation. Trouble walking, falling and balance was ultimately traced to a subdural hematoma resulting from a fall months earlier. It was discovered during an MRI of the brain and the patient was sent immediately to the ER. This was on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend. Dr. Fox came in, had an OR opened, explained what needed to be done to the patient the and family, and operated immediately. He followed up all through the weekend and went in again Monday afternoon to drain additional blood. Dr Fox continued to follow up and helped arrange to move patient to an excellent rehab facility, then home. With additional therapy at home, patient is doing incredibly well. Dr Fox and his team have provided excellent professional and compassionate care.

Dr. Fox performed low back surgery in October and neck surgery in November. I have put off both surgeries for so long and I am so happy that I waited to do the correct procedures after all my questions were discussed and such a bonus to receive such wonderful care from Dr. Fox and his staff.

I had numbness, pain, & a pins & needles feeling in my left hand for well over a year, a stiff neck, spinal stenosis,spinal pains in both shoulders and intermittant pains in my right arm & hand. Two weeks ago yesterday, Dr. Fox performed a C4-C7 cervical fusion with C6 corpectomy & instrumentation on me at Providence Tarzana Hospital. The day after surgery I was released to recuperate at home in my apartment( I live alone). Pre-op, I had viewed numerous videos on Youtube from others who had recovered from similar ACDF procedures. I had stocked up on soft foods ( soups, pastas, instant oatmeal, pudding cups, ice cream, juice bars, apple sauce...) & disposable dishes & cutlery. Knowing that I wouldn't be able to bend, lift, or twist, I had covered my kitchen counters & dining room table with anything I could imagine that I would need for my 1st couple of weeks of recovery. I also purchased a reacher-grabber to pick up anything I might drop & button-down shirts, since I would not be… able to lift my hands over my head (pull-overs). For the 1st 5 days of my recovery, I followed all of my post-op instructions & had the expected pains & difficulties. My worst problems were the discomfort from wearing the neck brace, itching from not shaving, lack of sleep, and side effects from the pain medication. On day 6, Sandy Moss, a Physical Therapist from Accredited Home Health Services came to my apartment & spent over an hour with me. She removed my dressing, took my vitals, reviewed any hazards I might have ( no rubber mat in my tub shower...). She was great. She showed me how to wear the Philidelphia collar for the shower, shave, how to sleep correctly on my side, and gave me tips on how to deal with the side effects of the medication. It was decided that she would not need to return as I was doing well. I walked the hallways of my building to get some exercise a few times a day. Once I could shave, shower, sleep, and use the bathroom regularly, my difficulties dissappeared. I just had to take it easy & let my body heal itself. I started to feel normal again. I talked with Natalie Betancourt, Dr. Fox's very positive, and knowledgable assistant, and we decided that I could start cutting back on the pain medication. I didn't like how it affected my personality. Yesterday I had my 1st post-op appointment with Dr. Fox. He showed me the films of the complicated procedure I had . He checked my strength, sensation & removed the steristrips from where my stitches were. His assessment was that I would still need to wear the neck brace and not be able to drive until my next visit in 4 weeks. Otherwise, he released me to work from home (computer work) & told me that I could completely stop taking pain medication, other than Tylenol as needed. I look forward to driving again in 4 weeks. I could not have asked for a better recovery from such major surgery. Every aspect from Dr. Fox and his staff, the hospital care, the in-home therapist has been top notch. I would highly recommend them to anyone with spinal problems.
