Dr. Anthony Arlo Ferguson, MD

Dr Ferguson is an excellent doctor. He explained things in a way that I understood. He answered all my questions. When I went for x-rays, Lisa was as nice as she could be. She did a great job, a very professional yet a very enjoyable person. I later had to go for an MRI. The team of technicians were very polite and knowledgeable. They let me know how much time each scan would take and let me know halfway through or when it was almost over. On the day of Surgery, I was visited by two of the surgical team and the doctor himself. When each one came in, they explained their role in what was going to take place. The doctor came in also to check on me and to fill me in on what was going to take place. Later, I was taken to surgery. I was greeted in the hall by the doctor and his assistants all with smiles, as I went into surgery. I was informed I was the star of the show. The next thing I remember I was in the recovery room. Ten days later I am walking very well again. I went for my… last visit today. I was happily greated by Amanda at the front desk. After a short wait I saw Dr. Ferguson. He asked how I was doing. I showed him how good my ankle looked. I also let him know I could walk on it after three days with hardly any pain. I had listened to the instructions and did what I was supposed to do. And along with his great tallent my surgery was a success. Thank you Dr Ferguson and you Team!

Spends time explaining what options you have to treat your problem. Didn't feel rushed

I was referred to Dr. Ferguson when I was looking for a pediatric orthopedist for a second opinion. The doctor she was seeing for a past ankle fracture said she needed surgery. Dr. Ferguson saw her and explained why he disagreed (very respectful of the other doctor). I am so grateful to him! My daughter has never had a problem since - she even played soccer! Dr. Ferguson fixed a painful toe joint for me. Excellent job - and that toe on my other foot feels better (which he said might happen). I refer others to Dr. Ferguson, and I only here rave reviews!

I've had two surgeries performed by Dr. Ferguson, and have been a patient for almost four years now. He's a nice, funny guy who makes you feel comfortable with what's happening. It's actually because of his bedside manner and great reviews, that my parents and I chose to stay under his care. He can run a bit late, normally fifteen to thirty minutes late. The longest I had to wait was about an hour, for a short appointment, so that is frustrating. However, when he is present he really is focus and tries to take everything you say into consideration. Great guy and great doctor, would recommend.

He repaired a drop foot for me and did a fantastic job. It was a difficult surgery but it worked. Nice personality and explained everything in detail and didn't feel pressured with his time. Short wait time in the office and office staff so friendly

Dr. Ferguson was amazing! He has a great bedside manner as well as his staff being very helpful. The office is great as the chairs are spaced out and I was able to maneuver with ease on my crutches.

We have had excellent advice, treatment and care from Dr. Ferguson. He has treated both our daughter and son over the years, and we would highly recommend him to others.

Dr. Ferguson is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. Having read a few negative reviews, I felt compelled to share my extremely positive experiences. I have dealt with foot pain for over a decade. Dr. Ferguson has performed two separate successful foot surgeries on me. As a result of his expertise, my pain has been significantly reduced. No bone surgery can relieve 100% of long-term pain, and one needs to be realistic about this prior to committing to a procedure. Dr. Ferguson is an exemplary, competent, knowledgeable surgeon and I would highly recommend him if you are experiencing chronic pain and looking for a surgical solution. Yes, he is a busy man. Yes, allot extra wait time, as his appointments may run behind. But these are small sacrifices, knowing your mobility is in excellent hands. The reviewers who described him as â??rudeâ??, are likely overly sensitive and without a sense of humor, or were disrespectful to him. I would describe Dr. Ferguson as a kind, compassionate,… down-to-earth, no-nonsense, results-oriented surgeon. He is smart and experienced. He takes his time, answers all questions, and listens, but he is not there to be your BFF; he is there to help you live with less pain. He is in-demand, so schedule your appointment well in advance and know you are secure in his professional hands.

I have tremendous respect for all medical staff and especially doctors I hold in high esteem. I must write, however, about negative experience with Dr. Ferguson. I had an injury with tibia/fibula fracture. Without giving me the opportunity to see my X-ray he bullied me into a intramedullary nail surgery which I opposed and begged extensively for an alternative solution. He declared that "the only way to save my leg is with the nail". My questions, objections and pleas were met with comment that he would rather spend time with his daughter than discuss the issue with me. He also repeated on several occasions that he performed many of these procedures. I submitted myself to his recommendations. Unfortunately the surgery went wrong, there was significant misalignment/displacement of some 10-12MM between the bone fragments. I wish I could display the X-ray here for everybody to see and make their own opinion. I thought 1/2" is pretty big tolerance even for building of a garage, never… mind a leg surgery. There was no drainage tube and suction system used for my knee incision and all draining fluid went from my knee into my boot and spilled over on my bed sheets during few days in hospital. After my surgery my foot was in bandage and a boot, installed tight. Nursing staff received insufficient instructions from doctor so nobody removed and inspected or adjusted my boot until my follow up appointment almost three weeks after the surgery. I suspect during that time I developed both of my blood clots (DVT) in calf muscle, which are now being treated with Warfarin. I must give a credit to Dr. Ferguson for recognizing the situation quickly during the follow up appointment and referring me to a different surgeon in a different hospital who fortunately performed a successful second, corrective surgery. For some reason the other doctor did not need intramedullary nail, he removed the one inserted by Dr. Ferguson, he was able to use screws and plate to fixate my bone even after it was weakened by reaming process during the first surgery. I am very fortunate my second surgeon is very competent, everything went just fine and I likely won't get stuck wit a nail in my tibia for rest of my life nor poorly healing, misaligned bone. I will remember Dr. Ferguson because of a very needles tibial IMN surgery, lost time between surgeries and extended, slower recovery. I believe blood clots in two infra-popliteal veins could have been also easily prevented (athletic, healthy patient) with attention to detail, instructions and guidance from him.

My son had seen Dr. Ferguson years ago for a broken ankle. I recently had to take my son back for an unfortunate accident which lead to a gunshot wound in his ankle. My experience at the Hospital (before seeing Ferguson)was HORRIBLE, the doctors there said my son would never walk again!!. After seeing Dr. Ferguson I now have hope that everything will be ok. He took the extra time to explain & try EVERY option available to help my son (without looking at what insurance I have)He treated my son like a patient not just another number he was trying to get out of the door. We need more Doctors like him. Thanks to you & your staff for ALL your efforts!! You guys are the BEST!!!
