Dr. Benjamin S. Bleier

Arrogant “doctor” lied to me and sent for a second opinion to his friend who repeated his lie. Stay away, don’t be fooled by his high rating.

Dr. Bleier has excellent knowledge and is very considerate to patients' health. Last year, I had an nose issue which seriously affected my sleep quality. One doctor told me that I need to have a long surgery to remove some tissues, open up my upper sinuses, and block the sensory nerves from the nose. When I worried overtreatment and questioned the plan, the doctor was so mad and lost his temple. I was scared by the unreasonable treatment plan and wanted to have a second opinion on the treatment plan. One of my friends recommended Dr. Bleier in ENT to me. During the first appointment, Dr. Bleier explained the issue and told me a much simpler plan---reduce some tissues and other problems would be solved then. Immediately, I decided to go with Dr. Bleier's better plan. Instead of several hours surgery as the first doctor suggested, Dr. Bleier took 45min in operation room and, after a few months, I have no issue in my nose and can sleep very well. My experience with Dr Bleier was, apparently, unusual, and very bad. I went to him with longstanding headache, apparently sinus-related, with associated nasal discharge. Three other ENT's found nothing and referred me to neurologists to rule out trigeminal cephalgia; they ruled out trigeminal cephalgia. So my visit to Dr Bleier was a last-ditch effort at a diagnosis. Our initial encounter took about five minutes. He performed a one-side nasal endoscopy in three to five seconds, no findings. He then ordered a CT "to make sure there's nothing wrong with your sinuses." The next and final visit, again about three minutes total, reviewed the CT: no sinus findings, but an abscessed molar. There were no follow-up instructions (except to see a dentist) and no referrals. I only realized he was finished after email exchanges with his PA. So...it appears he was going through the minimal motions and entering the codes - the five-second endoscopy was billed at $625. I can only… imagine that he had decided before he saw me that there was no sinus issue -- "examined me" is not really a good description of what happened. He may or may not have been correct in that assumption, but the total absence of work-up and the failure to communicate even the most basic information -- like, "We're done!" -- was something of a shock and adds nothing to the credibility of his conclusions.

I was billed $1,301 for 5 minutes of his time which included 10 seconds for him to stick an endoscopy up my nose and tell me to have it cauterized. I was treated like a number, wildly misinformed of the cost, and now feel taken advantage of.

I can not say enough about how much I appreciate what he has done for me.

I actually cried in his office after my surgery because I could breathe for the first time in 10 years!

I had terrible sinus problems for years and when I saw Dr Bleier he sat with me and explained exactly what my problems were. Eventually I had surgery with him and I feel GREAT! If you have sinus problems I would definitely go to this guy.

Poor "specialist" but good businessman. For 3 min routine check up appointment he will bill you $1000.00. What a shame!
