Dr. Benjamin Chihhung Ling, MD

I don’t know anyone who wakes up one day and says, “I think I’ll go see a neurosurgeon.” We were fearful and uncertain when we arrived at my appointment with Dr. Ling, to discuss a middle fossa craniotomy. Doctors in the past have struggled with being unclear, disempowering and using too many obscure medical terms to refer to what is a serious condition. Upon arrival, his staff and medical team were very kind and professional. When Dr. Ling came into the room, he was clear, kind and compassionate in his communication. He presented the information in a concise way that me and my family understood and gave us all an opportunity to ask questions. He was experienced and understanding of the complexity of my surgery and responded with respect and honesty. I would recommend him to family, friend and foe alike.

This doctor was amazing! I recieved emergency surgery for a overly buldging disc the very next day. I cant explain in words how grateful I am. Nuero surgeons are busy doctors. They handle life threatening situations and take on new patients at moments notice. I wasn't expecting him to take time to actually care, but that's what he did. He truely cared about my well being. Thank you Doctor Ling for not only providing great medical care but also showing compassion for human care. I multiple staff tell me that he was the best in Spokane and I truely believe that.

I brought my son Daxton to the Spokane WA Sacred Heart Children Medical Center ER due to headaches that were worsening for a week despite conservative care that had successfully reduced his muscle tightness, muscle spasms (the size of large jaw breakers from his shoulders), and neck movement restriction and dysfunction. After a week of worsening headaches Dax vomited, without illness and without fever. It was at this point I decided to take Dax to the ER. The ER Emergency Pediatrician, Dr. Robert Truckner, was having a hard time getting any valuable answers out of Dax but persisted then performed tests on Dax which were negative other than palpable tenderness. He then ordered xrays which were negative. Doctor Truckner then decided to order a CAT scan due to my sons unexplained symptoms. The Cat scan was assessed by the Radiologist, Dr. Richard Brunkan. He noted the subtle changes demonstrated on the Ct Scan which showed my son had a brain tumor with brain inflammation (hydrocephalus)… an MRI was ordered and more detail was gathered. Dax was scheduled for an emergency brain surgery which was scheduled for the very next day. At this point we turned to God in prayer and fasting and were joined by friends and family praying for Daxton and his doctors. As well as support from family members and members of our church with blessing our son and caring for our other children’s needs so we can be with Dax! The surgery was performed promptly the verry next day. Dr. Benjamin Lang, Neurosurgeon, performed the surgery that removed the brain tumor without needing a blood transfusion. Dax’s condition post surgery was sufficiently stable that he did not require a breathing tube to remain in his airway. By 8:00 the next morning (right now) Dax was talking to us, moving his feet and able to squeeze things with his hands. He is still recovering from anesthesia from his surgery as well as additional medications he after recurved to keep him under for a second MRI this morning to assess for complete removal of the tumor. Despite these challenges Dax was able to drink some water at 9:00am without vomiting and will be eating breakfast soon. I can not express enough my gratitude to God, our friends and family ant to the doctors, nurses and support staff of Sacred Heart Children’s Medical Center in Spokane WA for saving Daxtons Life! I am fully confident they have done and are doing as well a job as could be hoped for on behalf of our Dax! We are still waiting for the tumor biopsy to determine if he has cancer and the additional treatments our son will require but we have been truly blessed from God, these good doctors and our friends and family! Thank you!!!

We met Dr. Ling in the hospital, after our daughter had been admitted because of complications related to a brain tumor. Dr. Ling was amazing, meeting us in the midst of a incredibly difficult time. Dr. Ling has been very professional, gracious, and patient with us, and our daughter is doing incredibly well, considering what she had to go through. We're very thankful for Dr Ling, and while we never want to have to recommend a neurosurgeon to anyone, we would recommend Dr. Ling without hesitation.

My son has been under Dr Ling's care for the past 13 years. The care and effort Dr Ling has put into making things work for my son have been unsurpassed. Even when things have gone completely sideways, he has found a way to make it better. Dr Ling is a truly compassionate provider whom I highly recommend.

Dr. Ling reviewed my MRI with me and explained every detail of my problem as well as all possible options of treatment. I had a cyst pressing on my right siatic nerve causing extreme pain in my right leg preventing me from walking. He offered me a solution that was for outpatient surgery to remove the cyst reliving the pressure on the nerve and getting rid of the pain. I went into the hospital in the morning in a wheel chair and was able to walk out with no pain in the afternoon. That was amazing. Dr. Ling met with me before the surgery and discussed the procedure completely as well as expected recovery details. He personally met with my wife right after surgery in the waiting room. Dr. Ling met with me after recovery explaining the out come of the surgery and that I sould be pain free and able to walk. Dr. Ling is very detailed and he Listens to his patients. He is very humble and explains all options and details you need to know to fix your problem. … You do not feel rushed when he is meeting with you and makes you feel at ease. I don't think you can find a better Dr. To treat you.

Found him to be very detailed yet relaxed ; easy to discuss all aspects of my mri ; listened when asked questions and appeared to be a dr that actually cares about the patient..

Dr. Ling performed my daughters brain surgery. I could not have had a better surgeon. He always gave me options and left surgery as the last resort. He is amazing! His aftercare is amazing as well. We were blessed to have him!
