Dr. Bernard John Vittone, MD

Dr Vittone is impressively bright and intellectually sophisticated. He keeps studying and is continuously aware of evolving research and developments in mental health in order to provide tailored, first class medical treatment. He’s also emotionally gifted providing his patients with a feeling of empathy and safety. Dr Vittone has changed my life without making me dependent on him or on medication - I’ll be forever grateful.

My son saw Dr. Vitonne for 8 years. During this time my son went from being on one medication to being on nine medications. He was over medicated. After a year at a different practice my son is on 3 medications. He is out of the fog. This is the best he has been doing since he was diagnosed. Now he is trying to make up for lost time - while also battling low self confidence as he had set back after set back during the 8 years he was treated by Dr. Vitonne. There is more I could say, but this is enough. Dr. Vitonne was caring and personable; and we were told an expert in his field, but he missed it on this one. We paid him over $20,000 (that we really did not have) during this time thinking we were getting the best care we could for our son.

After 45 minutes after my appointment time, he still had no turned up and his assistant (?) had no idea of how to contact him.

Makes you feel comfortable and welcome. Doesn't judge and you feel he's genuinely on your side. Knows his stuff inside out and keeps up with his reading. You feel like he's in your corner with you. Not afraid to use benzos (Xanax, Klonopin) if appropriate. And if you have ADD doesn't make you come back every month for refills like some docs.

Warm, friendly, relaxed and very expert. Makes you feel special, and really knows what he's doing.

Outstanding psychiatrist. Very accessible and insightful. At our initial interview, he accurately diagnosed my condition, in contrast to a series of misdiagnoses by other medical providers.

After seeing that he was rated as a Best Doctor repeatedly by the Washingtonian Magazine and a number of other sites, I decided to give him a try. It was a bit of a wait to see him, but it was worth it. He is very thorough, obviously very bright, and very caring. He involved me in choosing from various treatment options. He's down to earth (ha, even wears jeans), friendly and frankly a really nice guy. But very knowledgable. Expensive but worth every penny.
