Dr. Rubens is the most caring, compassionate Dr. I’ve been seeing him for about 3 years and would recommend him to anyone. He is the absolute best there is hands down!

My diagnosis was life threatening kidney cancer. Dr Rubin was compassionate and professional. I had confidence in his treatment because he explained exactly what was happening. He and his staff supported me during the pre op, the surgery, and the folllow up. His continued following of my treatment has helped me so much.

I had a very good experience with Dr. Brandon Rubens. He listened to my concerns, explained my diagnosis and options clearly, and I felt confident in his skills. The only thing I’d note is that he could be a bit direct when sharing concerning news, though I believe his intention was to be honest and straightforward. Overall, I would still recommend him as a knowledgeable and caring urologist.

Waited two weeks to see him for testicular pain, saw me once, ran a few tests and shuffled me out of office with no diagnosis. When I called back stating I had discomfort, he refused to see me claiming, "It's not a urology issue." How is testicular pain not a Urology issue? I'm assuming he meant that this pain is mental. This is the kind of treatment you will get after just one visit. Dr. Brandon Rubens is by far the worst Urologist I have ever encountered.

I was seen at WakeMed hospital for a problem with urinating and weakness in my legs. I've suffered a spinal injury so a problem like this is part of my life. I ended up getting a catheter inserted and had to leave it in for a week until my bladder returned to normal. During this time I was hobbling around with a large bag and tube attached to me. I returned to the Wake Urology Practice a week later to have the catheter removed. During this time and during my stay in the hospital I was seen by Dr. Rubens. His attitude towards me was borderline hostile. He has a very callous way of talking to and giving people bad news. During my time with the catheter installed I was out of work. I have worked through some very difficult times but this was undoable with any type of dignity. I let him know he might be contacted by my insurance provider about my time off work and he responded that he could do nothing for me in the way of time off. He told me he has many patients that cath everyday and… work (which I don't doubt). But I was not inserting and removing a catheter every time I needed to go. I had the same large bag (which I did try to put under my clothing and could not) attached the entire time. I found his attitude and demeanor to be very offensive. I'm sure there are people that have gone through this or worse situations and returned to work somehow but I doubt the list is very long. I should have been given a smaller bag that could go under my clothes or some accommodations not some callous response.

After long suffering with the unknown, I found Dr. Rubens and travelled the one hour commute to see him. He offered options to remedy my situation and educated me to help me make my own decision to best meet my needs. I am happy to say that as a result of his excellent care, I am kidney stone free today! He is thorough and kind, which I truly appreciate. His staff are very personable and kind, as well. I would choose no other urologist. He basically walks on water for me.
