Not a good doctor

I am having a very positive experience with Dr. Coil as my PCP. I am able to schedule my appointments promptly and easily. He has given me sound medical advice, and offered printed materials concerning my health issues. I have been his patient for 6 months now at St. Thomas, Nashville. He is competent, has great manners, and is thorough in his questioning and examinations. I am very satisfied, and would recommend him to anyone needing a primary care physician.

A spade is a spade. I think this guy will need surgery on his wrist considering how many times he looked at his watch during our very brief appointment. He asked the same questions 3 or 4 times even after I gave clear and concise answers the 1st ( & 2nd & 3rd) time.

steer clear of dr coil if he treats patients like he runs his office. you will never talk to a live person, just leave your message on the answering machine and they will get back to you whenever they want to at the end of the day. since i don't have a cell phone, we played phone tag for a week+. i called up hoping to hear a human, but had to leave message. they call back at their convenience when i am at work. today i stopped in personally to explain my frustration of their ways. i was told i was just one patient, and they have their ways of doing things and it is either their way or the highway. i am completely out of meds now. i asked how soon i can get an appointment. a week from today they said. i asked if they could fill a prescription to cover me with meds until the next appt. their answer was "no". i have been on this antidepressant for 1 1/2 years and they are denying me meds for 7 days more until my next appointment?? what happened to their oath of DO NO HARM. the… doctors are the first ones to tell you that you need to continue to take this type med religiously everyday. apparently, their pocket book won out over my well being in this instance. needless to say, i have made an appointment with another doctor.

He seems to listen, but he doesn't know what he is doing. My obg/gynecology found out I was diabetic. Why didn't Dr. Coil diagnosis me especially when my symptoms included thirst and tiredness? He was my family physician.

Each time we have seen this dr. he made no eye contact with us,kept his nose buried in his computer so you didnt know if he was listening. Flatly refused to help us in our darkest moment after my husband had no insurance and almost died we needed to apply for Medicaid assistance. He refused to help us with personal documentation of our multiple diagosis of serious conditions that keep both of us from working. Seems to be a very stubborn set in his ways man.

The first time I visited Dr. Coil it was for a very serious problem with my daughter. She was only 19 and very embarrased and scared. Just his caring tone of voice and calm presence put us both at ease. He took more time with us than I expected and he explained everything to us so that we both understood. The thing that impressed me the most was that he actually seemed interested in what we had to say! He never seemed rushed or impatient and he treated my daughter's problem like it was a normal everyday occurance! We have a family of ten so he has been kept pretty busy with us. My younger children just adore him and even pretend to be sick so they can go see if he can, "pull an elephant out of my ear!" I feel very blessed having found a family doctor like Dr. Coil and hope to be with him for a very long time! He was actually reffered to us by my niece who has seen him for over five years and would never go anywhere else.
