It has been almost two week seance my latest surgery. I had a left side si joint fusion. It has went very well so far. I have also had fusion of l3-4-5and s1 it took about two years befor I really got to feeling better. But as I started working out I notice my left side started to bother me. So back to Dr Durks I went they determined what it was and we move forward thank you Dr Durks. Mike Smithwick

In 2017 I had surgery and I will need surgery again. I would not consider another surgeon. He is good at what he does. He has a very dry sense of humor and you will either love him or hate him. I enjoy his sense of humor and straight forward no nonsense approach. He gives you the information and then its up to you to make the decision. I chose the least invasive options first which he said probably would not work. He was right but respected my desire to try everything but the knife. Before surgery he authorized all the other treatments and said if these don't work and you can't deal with the pain come back and see me and we will do surgery. I appreciated that he did not run the bill up with many office appointments. I came back and did the surgery. Yes one of his office staff is rude and tends to be the one to answer the phone, be patient and take the high road. He is worth the hassle of the front desk.

I have been a patient of Dr. Dirks for 10 years specifically because I have significant DDD that is trying to ruin my life. Dr. Dirks is patient, kind, compassionate, and he LISTENS to his patients. He will not jump into surgery unless it is absolutely necessary and I have had every alternative treatment he has recommended - some worked, some didn't, but I followed his directions because I TRUST him. He is an excellent surgeon without a doubt and his bedside manner is a little quick, but if you write out your questions prior to your visit or after surgery in the hospital - he WILL take the time to answer everything. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs a neurosurgeon - he has given me my life back many times, less pain and able to go back work every time. And his staff, especially Lori, are incredible and compassionate, I can't say enough so I will end here.

horrible bedside manner. Does not follow through

3 1/2 years ago Dr. Dirks fused L3, L4, and S1in my spine. The recovery was pretty quick and I had no pain. I did fine. I had spinal Stenosis. Now, I have more spinal stenosis - so we will be fusing L2, and L3, L3 and L4 in about 3 weeks. I am very favorable impressed with Dr.Dirks. He is happy, not snotty, he is a family Christian man who takes church groups to Hondurus for medical purposes, and he did an absolutely great job on my back. That's why I am going back to him. It's important to me that he is a Christian man as well as a fine surgeon.

I wanted a Dr. who wasnt going to give me the run around and pie in the sky promises. Thats exactly what I got. He was honest and gave me the options letting ME choose with full knowledge of the potential outcomes and problems. I have had a problem with my lower back for some time and as he predicted the shots were some help but weren't a good fix. I am seeing him tomorrow about the surgery option. I found him quirky and with a dry sense of humor. Seeing the comments here I think he could come across as rude. He is blunt and to the point which I appreciated.

I have had a back problem for quite a while about 15 years. I went to a different dr in post falls and he did surgery on my back and basically said that I would be good in a year. Dr dirks had done a surgery on my sister a week before I had my first surgery. She recovered faster than I did. So I still had pain in my back so I decided to go see dr dirks. His office was very efficient and helpful in setting up my visit . When I say dr durks he told me that my back would not heal it self. He didn't know what the other dr was thinking. So we did surgery agin. I can tell you that I feel like I am getting better.we did a lot of surgery it was l3 l4 l5 s1 fusion . It has been hard but I do feel better. Thank you Dr Durks. You have saved my life.

If I have any more work done he would be the only one to do it. His work has been above and beyond.
