Dr. Bruce Stuart Sand, DO

I have been a patient of Dr. Sand for 12 years. He discovered my colon cancer early on, and all of my colonoscopies (9 to date) have been done by him. I have never had a problem with this procedure and am so grateful for Dr. Sand’s thoroughness and calming nature. I am now an advocate for colonoscopies and insist my family and friends get scoped.

Dr. Sands is the best too bad his office staff is so rude and unprofessional! I see all the reviews about money and co-pays I had the same problems with them. I have been a patient for 10 years and I will never go back. Dr Sands is great but he is surrounding himself with office staff that do not have his best interests at heart. He said how sorry he was about my treatment but those office people don't deserve to be employed!

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE KIDS OR WANT TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE!!! First I would like to say Dr Sand is a very nice gentleman and unfortunately it's his office staff that is causing him to lose patients and now referrals from other doctors! I had an appointment 5/4 at 4pm, prior to my appointment my son had a tooth extraction. Note my children slept on the 40 min drive to my appointment and were still half asleep when we entered my appointment. We signed in and the woman up front immediately offered my children a sucker of which we thanked her for and sat down. My son had his kindle in his lap but was still fairly groggy from his extraction and pretty much sat there dazed and my daughter was talking and giggling with me. Out of nowhere some woman from the back comes out and tells me "keep your children quiet we have several sick patients in the office today"! I sat there dazed myself and in complete disbelief and looked at the gentleman sitting next to me and said… that was rude to which he agreed. I grabbed my children knocked on the window to which no one answered so we just left! I called the following day to ensure I wasn't going to be charged for my visit which they assured me I wasn't going to be charged. I also told them how I would not be returning due to the rudeness of their coworker when I was told again how it was my children being loud and rambunctious! I will be the first to admit when my kids are out of line and this was FAR from the case!! I explained to them how upset I was and that I wanted all my information sent back to my primary care doctor. This was all Friday 5/5, come to find out Monday morning 8:30am Lynn at their office called my primary care to inform them that they had an issue with me and that my children were throwing magazines and that my son was so inconsolable and very upset from having his tooth pulled so they gave them suckers to calm them down and keep them quiet. ALL LIES! What they did not realize when they called to tell them this was that my primary care has been my Doctor and family friend for over 20 years and they called me to get the real story because unfortunately this isn't the first time they've had a problem with his office staff! So I write this just to warn parents unless you want to be treated with complete disrespect and have you children lied about DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS OFFICE!

As a long term member of the professional medical community, I am familiar with many physicians throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. I have consistently been a recipient of exceptional feedback regarding Dr. Sand, his devotion to his patients, impressive knowledge of GI medicine, and superior health care. Moreover, although I have been fortunate to not have any Gastroenterology related health issues, I have used Dr. Sand for my screening colonoscopies. Dr. Sand proved to not only be a wonderful physician but also a highly skilled endoscopist. Fortunately, my career within the medical community allows me to be informed of those physicians highly respected by their peers and within the industry. Dr. Sand is certainly one of those that tops the list!

A truly amazing and dedicated GI doctor! Incredibly caring and highly knowledgeable. Totally patient oriented. A rare find in todays tumultuous medical industry. Thanks to my Primary Care Physician's awesome recommendation, I finally have a doctor that not only care about my medical needs, but renders outstanding GI healthcare!

I would recommend Dr. Sand to family and friends. He and his staff our professional, courteous and personable.

Great care from Dr Sand and his staff. Definitely recommend his service to others. He was very thorough with me regarding my colonoscopy results.

I have read a lot of these reviews and am very sad to see Dr. Sand getting such a bad rap! He is a very good physician. He helped get to the bottom of my medical issues with ease. I have to say I did see his office manager get upset with a patient, but that was after she tried to resolve the situation for several minutes. I believe if you treat people with kindness and respect you will get it back which might be why my experience wasn't the same as everyone elses.I did let Dr. Sand know his office manager was a little pushy at my appointment scheduling and I expressed my concerns for her behavior while I was waiting. Turns out that is his wife. So you should all understand now. Dr Sand is wonderful, my advise is to just ignore the office staff until you actually see dr sand. If they are that rude maybe they will leave a rude message and you can prove the rudeness. Dr. Sand should be made aware of the situation so he can rectify it.

4:10 pm appointment- office full of patients- finally at 4:50 pm I told them I could not wait any longer, they replied, " we will be charging you a cancellation fee." Really!I would not recommend this doctor unless you have all day to wait to see him.

Sand is argumentative and rude (he berated me for not coming in for a follow up and having a endoscopy for a SECOND time- he didn't find anything the first one). I capitulated and went for the second procedure and he gave me the same lame excuses as the first time. He doesn't know what to do. He did not have my chart with him and didn't even know what treatments he had tried. He took a personal phone call when his cell phone rang during my appointment. He is NOT up on current research, was totally closed on information coming from peer reviewed current research. He was bemoaning losing money because the insurance companies were questioning his practices.He is locked in to the fact he has been practicing for 30 years and so he wasn't going learn anything new. He actually said go ahead and go to Mayo Clinic because they will tell you the same thing- that they don't know anything. (Actually all the information Mayo Clinic supports he dismissed as not being helpful). ISN'T that why you go… to a specialist? Because they are supposed to be current on research and what helps your condition.I gave this guy a second chance and am regretting spending the time and money to pad his pocket.
