Dr. Casey Daniel-Carlyle Jenkins, MD

Dr. Casey Jenkins has performed surgery on my son, and myself. Soon he will be performing surgery on me again. Dr. Jenkins is very experienced and has a great sense of humor.

Dr. Jenkins is excellent in explaining everything clearly and very encouraging. He did such a good job on repairing my broken elbow and explaining what i needed to do for my shoulder.

I saw the Dr. for a problem with my right elbow. Pain in it that was worsening, upon repeated use of a cane. I used a cane due to a work injury sustained to my leg. The right elbow was not related to my initial work injury. I was (potentially) going to have a surgery to my left elbow, which was part of my work injury. Dr Jenkins gave me an injection to my right elbow, ordered initial xrays he reviewed and ordered a C.T. Scan. He arranged a follow up visit to see him regarding my right elbow and C.T. scan results. It had also been determined, my right elbows ulna nerve was entrapped and I expressed to the Dr that I was interested in seeing him, to free the nerve via surgery. He informed me how he would do it, the recovery time and how long physical therapy for it would be. I informed the Dr I have results of an E.M.G. test for my right elbow and asked if he thought the daily use of my cane (which was unrelated to my initial work injury) could be aggravating the nerve. He agreed it could… be, but that he would need to see the results of my E.M.G. test first. He agreed to see me again, if I could bring in the report and I could consider talking about scheduling a surgery. When I returned with his requested report for a 3rd visit and to talk about scheduling a surgery, I was first 'interviewed' and 'questioned' by an assisting Dr before I saw Dr. Jenkins. This, was more so, an interrogation. I never felt so uncomfortable. Dr. Jenkins entered and his assisting Dr, stood with his arms folded/crossed in front of him and leaned in the corner. I presented Dr. Jenkins with my E.M.G. report. This was the purpose of the visit, per his request. He looked through the report quickly and said "This report, well it doesn't really tell me...You know, it's ehh".... and never finished his sentence. He said, "Look, talk to your Nurse Case manager (for workers comp) about them performing surgery to your right elbow. It doesn't make sense for you to have one Dr. perform surgery to your left elbow and another Dr to perform a surgery to your right elbow". Well, yes it did because 1) I was not being treated for my right elbow by workers Comp and did not nor should have went to my Work Comp Dr to treat me for a non work related issue. 2) There was no guarantee workers comp was going to even approve the surgery for my left elbow at that time and 3) I am allowed to see any Dr I want to have a surgery performed on my elbow that was a non work related injury. After Dr. Jenkins agreed to see me 3 times, ordered xrays of my elbow, ordered a C.T. Scan of it, told me he would perform a surgery, how it's done and all of the particulars of it, he then gave me the cold shoulder and avoided me all together, telling me to go see my work comp Dr for a non work comp related issue). He didn't want to be bothered and contrary to his initial stance, he bailed on the whole issue of providing proper care. Which, should be the number one goal. So, because of his timidness to 'get involved' in something that was only an 'issue' to him, I had to start all over, trying to find another Dr, who would be willing to treat a non initial work related injury.

Dr Jenkins left my hand deformed due to not paying close enough attention during surgery. Dr Jenkins didn't believe me when I said I could feel the scalpel during surgery. He then reluctantly gave me more numbing medicine. The surgery was supposed to be 20 minutes - lasted a little over an hour. One thing you do not want to hear from your surgeon is "uh oh". I now have a very scarred thumb base and my finger still is not working properly. Do yourself a favor and find someone else.

Of course, would have preferred to have seen Dr. Jenkins for the post-op follow-up but instead was seen by the PA. Over all was happy and very satisfied with the PA performance.

I could not have had a better surgical experience and such a caring MD and staff. Recommend 110%
