Dr. Chelsia Lalania Jackson, MD

Dr. Chelsia Varner graduated from Bowie State University in 1998. She went on to study medicine at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Helrich Award for Excellence in Anesthesiology. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD and returned to the University of Maryland for her residency training in anesthesiology. Dr. Varner has always loved teaching and personal tutoring, she taught high school biology prior to starting her medical career. She conducted research in genetics and molecular biology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, The Greenbaum Cancer Center in Baltimore, MD, and the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Varner served as a resident delegate for the American Society of Anesthesiology in 2005 and 2006 and has always been an active member of her local society. Dr. Varners clinical interests include innovations in …anesthesia monitoring and safety, and the utilization of simulation models for resident education.
