Dr. Christopher P. Ames, MD

I had driven three and a half hours to see Dr Ames. The time spent w/ him was close to 3 minutes. I felt he could have spent more time explaining to me the reasons for his decision and, ask me if I had any questions.

Dr Ames and team are fantastic

All very good. All questions and concerns were addressed. Very happy with the treatment plan so far.

All of the Dr's I spoke with answered my questions but it was difficult to understand the answers as they were generally given in medical terms that I did not understand. When asked for clarification the answers were still given in terms I did not always understand.

After providing multiple records, I was given an appt as a new patient even though I saw Ames in late 2015. This also prevented me from any direct contact with Ames prior to my appt. Meantime a local spine surgeon, aware of Ames' specialties, informed me that Ames would NOT LIKELY TREAT ME personally but refer me to one of his staff. In effect I would nothing to go on prior to my appt. Furthermore, when I cancelled one week in advance, I was told I would never likely be seen by Ames were I to ask. A threat.

Jerick runs security for Ames, not allowing any direct patient contact. Jerick's tone is snippy. I did see Ames in late 2015 and he referred me to a more appropriate surgeon for my problem. I sought contact with Ames in 2019 whose office assistant, Jerick, declared me a NEW PATIENT and not entitled to direct contact.

I have lived with scoliosis all of my adult life; caused by a short leg, and small hemipelvis. I have lived for over 5 years with worsening and debilitating left leg nerve pain, and weakness. Dr Ames performed an ALIF L3-S1, followed by a T4-S1 fusion the next day. He did a masterful job on my surgery, placing the small hemipelvis perfectly between the upper and lower limits of the larger pelvis. My nerve pain was gone immediately. My leg strength is returning. And, I am 2" taller! He was very thorough on my pre-op visits, and even called me in for an additional visit the day before surgery because of my unique physiology and pathology. He was very attentive, very knowledgable, very thorough on the pre-op visits, and on the 2 month follow up visit. He has done over 1000 of these corrections, and he is the master! I am so grateful for all of the sacrifices he has made to become the incredible specialist that he is, and to all of his teachers, mentors, parents, and all of the patients… who have come before me. Thank you Dr Ames. Thank you.

World class surgeon

This was one of the worst private pay visits I've had. UC may have been good in the past, advocated for pt's, and wasn't afraid to call out other md's for mistakes. Not anymore, not with Obama care. What I got was a student who preformed most of my surgical consult and dr. Ames came in at the end and told me he would not operate on me unless I did Pilates? Really... If I could do Pilates I wouldn't be in his office. He did give me his surgical recipe first, which was surgery from the front, followed by another procedure from behind. So he gave me a surgical solution followed by saying he would not operate without Pilates. He was very detached, cold, and unprofessional. I feel a refund was in order. No one should pay for something like this. There was also feces on the floor in the surrounding area. UC is over-rated and resting on past laurels that are no-longer here. Governor Romney, do you have remedy for this, I would like to try Romney care. Save yourself the grief, avoid Dr. Ames… and UC you will be seen by a student(there a teaching hospital and you'll pay tp be the guinee pig. Pilates anyone.......
