Dr. Christopher Todd Lechner, MD

It seems like everytime I see Dr. Lechner I am asked to do a review, so here we go again. I have been going to this amazing doctor for over 8 years for a condition called Dequervain's Tendonitis. It is an extremely painful condition! Surgery is the only long term solution but every three months I get cortisone shots in each hand...also painful but sooooo worth it! Dr. Lechner is the BEST! He has the best bedside manner, he is kind and gentle, has a great personality and will spend the time answering your questions! He is NOT a doctor who pushes you to have surgery but will only suggest it. I always say I'm so glad I found him even if I have to drive 45 minutes to my appointment! A great doctor is worth it!!!

I was referred to Dr. Lechner by Dr. Stone for further evaluation of issues with my hands. Dr. Lechner patiently listened to my problems and concerns and shared potential options subject to getting test results returned and evaluated. Courteous, friendly, listened and answered questions. Front staff courteous, efficient and friendly. Wait time less than 5 minutes.

I’ve been going to Dr. Lechner for years for hand pain. He’s never pushed surgery but has offered treatment options that have made gardening, cooking, mosaics, and other life tasks possible. Next month he’ll do surgery on my left hand. I’d trust this man with my life. If he’s not always prompt, I figure it’s because he’s dealing with a complicated case. He’s knowledgeable, professional, kind, patient, and charming.

On time always reviews previous visit new problems and explanations for new treatments

My interaction with Dr Lechner was excellent. He reviewed the X-ray, assessed my hand. Described the best solution being a corizone shot, gave me the shot and some post appointment expectations then I was finished. My constructive input was the appointment required arriving 30 minutes prior to the appointment, then he entered the appointment 55 minutes late to the appointment time without notice from his staff.

I had very little wait time. In fact I was a little early and was seen a little early. Dr Lechner was very nice. He knew exactly what I needed. The procedure was quick and almost painless.

Prompt to our visit. And that is the only good thing I can say about this one-star hack. Dr. Lechner suffers from the old-school thought of “I am the doctor, I know all, you know nothing, and I’m not even going to listen to a word you have to say.” I had questions, but he: 1. Didn’t seem to want to hear any; 2. Didn’t think I should have any input into my own care; 3. Tried to run out the door while I was asking him about severe pain I was having; and 4. Immediately minimized and denigrated any idea that he didn’t come up with on his own. No, I don’t have a medical degree, but no one knows how I’m feeling better than I do, and I am a top-notch researcher into the possible reasons behind my illness and possible solutions. Perhaps there are ideas that have come out since Lechner graduated school that he doesn’t know about yet. What’s the harm in taking an active listening approach to your patient and their possible needs? Are you really that intimidated by a patient who doesn’t accept… your “Look at my white coat authority”? If you want to be a doctor, then actually act like one who cares about your patients. Otherwise, either stay home and write for scientific journals or play a doctor on TV. Actually, just stay home; TV doctors care more about their patients and their needs.
