Dr. Clinton J Basener, DO

I broke my right shoulder in three places a few years back when I was hit by a speeding pickup truck while on my bicycle. I was quite a nasty break, and without surgery, I would have never been able to move my right arm above my shoulder again. The facility was spotless with cutting edge technology that I marveled over during my visits. To make a long story short, he put a plate and six screws in my shoulder. If I remember correctly, he said it was rather tough, and gave him a good challenge. They're not all that talkative, but polite, and seemed very knowledgeable. Once, while getting an xray at the OSU medical center on campus in Stillwater, the doctor brought in several of the med students to view my xrays, as they found the work in my shoulder to be incredible, like a work of art. After a few weeks of physical therapy, my right shoulder was actually more flexible than my left. Even with insurance it was rather expensive, but medical care is expensive, and good medical care… even more so. If you have a broken shoulder and you want it fixed by one of the best in the state, Dr. Basener is the one to go to.

Dr. Basener is great! He takes the time to listen to you and explain everything so you can understand what is going on with you. His office staff is wonderful, kind, and helpful. It makes going to the doctor a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend Dr. Basener!

Dr. Basener was very professional in explaining my hip problem. He made me very comfortable about the treatment available. If you need a doctor that will "take the time" this is the doctor.

Total waste of time and effort, he has yet to figure out what is wrong been going there for over 8 weeks and still nothing.

My 78 year-old mother went to see this guy and he did not engage with her at all, and did nothing to help her. He seemed very disinterested.

Made appt to be seen for severe right shoulder pain and numbness extending down arm through hand and fingers. basener never physically assessed me for my reported symptoms. just basically took my verbal explanation, had me get an x-ray of shoulder and then gave me an injection ( did not explain what it was he injected or why ) into my shoulder. Told me to come back in a month to report progress. Shot had zero effect towards relieving my pain. Made another appt (??) ... similar experience this second appt. except this time he injects me with a "different" concoction ( Toradol? ). Orders an MRI of shoulder along with an EMG. Still no physical assessment of my shoulder and/or spine mobility and range of motion. Neither is there any diagnosis other than "possibly carpal tunnel" ( thus the order for an EMG test ). During this second appt I commented about the degree and constancy of the pain. Basener immediately asks, "so, you're wanting pain medication?". Well, actually I would… like to have some indication from you as to what is the probable cause of my suffering and how can we best treat it. Anyway, the bottom line is this guy was of no value whatsoever ... A Complete Waste of Time and Money!

My appointment was scheduled for 10am. Since I was a new patient I was told to arrive at 9:30 to complete paperwork. I finished quickly and was called back around 9:45. I was taken for a needed x-ray and placed in a room to wait. I couldn't have been in the room more than a couple of minutes before Dr. Basener came in. He was very professional. He asked some questions and actually listened to what I had to say. He easily diagnosed my issue and discussed a variety of treatment options with me. He then took the time to answer my remaining questions before I was given my prescriptions and sent on my way. I was in the car, on the phone by 10:18am! I never felt rushed and I didn't have to wait. What a miracle in today's world! I highly recommend Dr. Basener and his wonderful staff. The only reason I gave 4 stars to "Accurate Diagnosis" and "Follows Up After Visit" is because I was just in his office today.
