Dana Marie Wilson-Lowder, APRN

Ms. Dana Wilson is a highly experienced and skilled Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who is family-trained with a focus in Metabolic Medicine and Bariatrics. She has extensive experience as a nurse in emergency care, which has sharpened her ability to think critically and quickly in high-pressure situations. Her clinical specialties have included caring for both adult and pediatric patients, neurology, care for geriatric patients, and now metabolic and bariatric patients.

Ms. Wilson earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Jersey College in Tampa, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. Ms. Wilson cares for patients at the Grasslands Campus.

How long have you worked in your field?
I am a highly experienced and skilled Family Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years in nursing. I spent five of those years as a family nurse practitioner. I began …my nursing career in 2005 as a licensed practical nurse and went on to further my education by earning both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in nursing from Florida Southern College.
Describe your clinical specialties.
My clinical specialties have included both adult and pediatric patients, neurology, and care for geriatric patients. I have extensive experience as a nurse in emergency care, which has sharpened my ability to think critically and quickly in high-pressure situations.

What is your patient care philosophy?
My patient care philosophy is centered on providing individualized, compassionate care to each and every patient I serve. I believe that every patient is unique and requires a personalized approach to treatment.

What would you like people to know about you as a physician?
I am passionate about empowering my patients to take an active role in their own healthcare and will work closely with them to develop personalized treatment plans. I am easy to communicate with and will make sure patients feel comfortable and understood.

What do you enjoy most about working with patients?
I find great fulfillment in educating patients and empowering them to take an active role in their own healthcare. Watching a patient become their own best advocate while achieving their personal health goals is a really great feeling.

How does your work improve lives?
I improve lives by helping provide my patient with the knowledge and confidence to take an active role in their own healthcare, educating them on how to manage their conditions, and providing them with the resources and support they need to improve their quality of life. I am dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of my patients.

What are some interesting facts about you?
I enjoy traveling, photography, and horseback riding. I have a passion for exploring new places and capturing the beauty of the world through the camera lens of my antiquated Nikon camera. I have a passion for all things antique and find beauty in the stories and history that each piece holds. I am always on the lookout for unique and interesting pieces, especially old cameras!

Would you like to share about your family?
I am a mother of two beautiful children and one big sweet lap dog. I am a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend. My little family is at the center of everything that I do and has been my light and motivation to move forward in my career, and in becoming closer to being the best version of myself each day.
