Dr Lebl saved my life, after 3 months of treatment at another “orthopedic practice”, Dr Lebl canceled my surgery as I was being wheeled into the OR; I am sure HSS hospital incurred a real capital loss to terminate my planned surgery 5 minutes before it was to due to start but Dr Lebl wanted to confirm inconsistencies between my multiple MRIs; thank God he did as it turned out I had spinal cord compression that was causing arthritis in my fingers, carpal tunnel in my left wrist, weakness in my toes all of which improved the moment I woke up from surgery; in-spite of the surgical pain I woke up feeling 20 years younger; Dr Lebl saved my life and made the right decision for me as a patient irrespective of the cost to the hospital. Dr. Lebl operated on my Lumbar spine in December of 2023. He performed a laminectomy, spinal decompression at L5-S1 on both sides. After decades of living in constant pain and having every modality possible, I opted for surgery. My experience with Dr. Lebl was outstanding. He is a great man and world class surgeon. He was very thorough prior to surgery, ordering many diagnostic scans and procedures to ensure a good outcome. He explained everything to me and answered all my questions, he is very patient and generous with his time. I am beyond grateful to Dr. Lebl and the great care I received at HSS. I give him and HSS my highest recommendation, Dr. Lebl is an exceptional physician/ surgeon and a wonderful person!

4 surgeries and years later...if I could give 10 stars ?? I would. Caring, patient, including his staff. I was terrified until I met Dr Lebl. Truly gifted surgeon.

I had what should have been a routine discectomy with Dr. Lebl. One week after surgery my back looked like the skin had been attached to the wrong place (not just according to me, according to a plastic surgeon I consulted). Dr Lebl insisted this was normal and it would 'resolve' itself. 5 weeks after surgery the skin had come loose and filled with fluid (a seroma, extremely rare in properly done discectomies), which started leaking and got infected, necessitating a second surgery after which I carried around a blood bag and a suction machine for 2 weeks. In order to re-close the wound properly the plastic surgeon had to pull paraspinal muscles over my spinal column and now I have a significant and permanent lump on my lumbar spine. After the first surgery Dr Lebl did not follow up with me unless I called him or emailed him multiple times. After week 1 (at which point he had seen the wound closure) he didn't follow up at all. At no point did he ever mention that a seroma was a… possibility or that I should be careful. If he had it's possible this wouldn't have happened, or it could have been caught before it started leaking and got infected. Throughout the entire process he was unresponsive, unsympathetic and seemingly uninterested in anything I was going through. There are many wonderful orthopedic surgeons in NYC - do what I wish I had, and pick anyone other than Dr. Lebl.

I had an L2-L3 fusion at apex of scoliosis. After about 20 months, I realized i indeed needed a full scoli correction. Lebl billed my surgery as a 'magic bullet.' Run away fast when a surgeon uses those words. He wasted 4 years of my life- had to find a revision surgeon. When I had my scoli corrected, I was then 58 years old- health had deteriorated due to chronic back pain that was unbearable at times. It worked for a year, then progressively I developed flat back syndrome. I was a surgical experiment that failed utterly. Had a miserable hospital stay but his staff then claimed the hospital was separate from his practice.

At age 48 I couldn’t walk for more than 10 min without pain & leg numbness. Dr. Levi is an amazing surgeon. I have my life back. Felt 100 % 6 months after surgery.

After having my first appointment with Dr Lebl I found him patient in listening to and explaining exactly what he felt should be done and how after the surgery I would be experiencing recovery. Follow up in hospital was done by him for the 3 days I was there. Follow up visits were handled well and on time. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He also takes most insurances so medical expenses were covered.

He performed surgery on my spinal stinosis and gave me back my life. I can now renjoy my retirement in Florida and I can dance again.

I was scheduled to have surgery in Albany, NY. I wanted a second opinion and went to Dr. Lebl. Dr. Lebl spent time with my wife and I explaining the procedure (C4 - C7 Fusion) when I left his office I was so confident I canceled the surgery with the Albany surgeon. Living in Albany made an added layer to the process but it was totally worth it. The day of surgery Dr. Lebel and his staff were excellent. The post surgery follow up has also been excellent. I never feel rushed with Dr. Lebel, he is patient and answers all my questions.
