Dr. David Robert Brown, MD

He was pushing hard to persuade me to let him put me on osteoporosis medications which I had researched already and knew was at best only marginally effective for osteoporosis in hips, my only problem area. When he was done talking, I shared the conclusions of the med journal articles I had found which said that and asked him if they were correct. Dead silence. Some seconds later, he said, “yes, but even a partially effective medication is better than nothing,” admitting that he had knowingly withheld material information from me. Then I asked him if there were any studies using leukemia patients with these drugs establishing they were safe and wouldn’t make the cancer worse. Answer was “no,” acknowledging he was advocating drugs without any evidence they would be safe for me.

Dr. Brown will tell you the first time you meet him that he chose to become a doctor to help and heal people. He does not take insurance because he says the insurance companies dictate the amount of time he is allowed to spend with patients. I have been coming to him for over 10 years and he is always genuinely interested in my health and well-being and never rushes to get you out the door if he feels an issue hasn't been addressed. If you're looking for a quick in and out visit covered by your health insurance he is NOT the doctor for you. If you want someone sincerely interested in your health then he is the best doctor I know. It sometimes means if you're the patient waiting for him to finish with someone ahead of you it can be a little frustrating but rest assured he is not going to rush you through because he is behind schedule. I recall a few years ago I had hip replacement surgery scheduled and had done all of the prerequisite tests when I came down with a severe case of… bronchitis. I went to see Dr. Brown on a Thursday and he prescribed Zithromax. The following Saturday at 6:00PM I got a call from him at home following up to make certain the medicine was working so I didn't have to reschedule. If you know or have heard of another physician who illustrates this kind of concern I would like their name too. Most push you through the door as quickly as possible so they can get to the golf course. You won't find a doctor more knowledgeable or caring in my opinion! He is the only doctor I truly and fully trust.

I called to schedule an appointment and was told that they do not accept any insurance and the first visit is between $500-700! Really?! I do not feel good about spending that much money if I do not have a serious condition.

They don't come any smarter!

I was a patient years ago but had to leave because he stopped accepting the only insurance provider he was accepting at the time. My wife worked at the local hospital and he wanted to be able to give back to the hospital employees. Before Dr. Brown, I thought I was an late onset insulin dependent type one diabetic. He questioned that diagnosis and actually checked that my pancreas was functional. long story short, I manage my diabetes better than I every did with pills. now for the bad. You will wait when you arrive. 15-30 min. He often goes over time with his previous appointments. when you get in the room they measures you're waist, arms, etc to see if you're loosing belly fat. (no other dr does this). He goes over your labs with a fine tooth comb and analyzes everything. This means that once in the room you will be in there for 30-45 min for a regular visit. after the visit you're sent to the waiting room while he types up your instructions to take home. (he has discharge… instructions for every visit, like a hospital). Lastly, he takes no insurance.(why i can't visit him) however, if you spend 2hrs with a patient would you want your fee to be reduced to 80 bucks by the insurance companies. Chances are he is smarter than your current Dr. If I could, I would continue to see him. If you have some thing that's hard to figure out, or difficult to manage (like out of control sugars), he is your guy.

All he and his wife receptionist care about is squeezing out a few dollars. Won't refill prescriptions or take basic questions without charging 150. Awful communication skills, avoid at all costs!

My experience was not so great. He does not take insurance and he charges and arm and a leg for very average advice on even basic problems. There are plenty of other endocrinologists in the area that are fabulous and affordable and who follow up much better. I will not be returning to Dr. Brown.

Very impressive on all counts. Shares his knowledge, permitting you to comprehend all facets of the diagnosis and treatment. Willing to spend the time needed to fully develop an understanding of your individual circumstances. Rarely have I met a physician so thorough, so organized and thoughtful in his treatment, coupled with an outstanding intellect.

Dr. Brown is an outstanding endocrinologist who is highly informed and up on the latest treatments.

Dr. David Brown is an excellent physician. Very professional and he know his field very well. Dr. Brown has been very helpful to me. His staff is well prepared and very supportive.
