Dr. David Alan Friscia, MD

I had severe osteoarthritis of my left ankle as a result of repeated sports injuries. Ultimately, I could not walk without severe pain. I limped everywhere. I took over the counter pain medications, but they did little, if nothing, to relieve my pain. I researched my options and contacted Dr. David A. Friscia, MD. through Eisenhower Medical Center to assess surgical options to replace my ankle with prosthetics. Dr. Friscia has an impressive resume including Harvard medical scholastics along with decades of surgical experience with ankle replacement surgeries. In my initial meeting with him, I found him to be warm, kind, and inciteful. I decided to proceed with a full ankle replacement surgery. I need to note that Eisenhower staff are remarkable. Upon decided upon my surgery I was contacted by multiple departments to ensure I had relevant diagnostics prior to my surgery (x-rays, MRI’s and CAT scans), pre-surgery reviews, and pre-and post-op protocol. Dr. Friscia did my surgery… 31 December and my post-op stay at the hospital was super – the nursing staff and associated staff were kind and took amazing care of me. My Eisenhower Case Manager arranged for me to have assisted care at a facility for skilled nursing care after surgery. I also want to specifically acknowledge my PA – Willaim Hinds – for his excellent pre-op and post-op care. He is experienced, kind, and warm. I feel lucky he was my PA. All-in-all, my experience with Dr. Friscia’s team was exceptional. My prosthetics feel like my actual ankle – no pain, no rotational limitations, no discomfort whatsoever. I am so glad I choose Dr. Friscia for my surgery and I can gladly recommend him to anyone looking to help them with surgical options to improve their standard of life. I’d write more, but I’m hiking with my club this afternoon up San Jacinto Mountain. Thank you Dr. Friscia for giving me back my life!

After 65 years of competitive sports the toes of my left foot had had enough. They were no longer straight nor did the bottoms touch the ground. Somehow we were able to find Dr. David Friscia, an Orthopedic surgeon that not only has an amazing educational background but has performed so many successful procedures that he has perfected what happens before, during and after. During my follow-up appointments I had the opportunity to meet many of his other patients who sang his praises of their particular surgeries as well. I don't recommend Dr Friscia. He recommended and completed lapiplasty surgery for my bunion, and not only is my bunion not fixed, but my foot is still swollen 17 months after surgery, so I get any of my old shoes on. He also lacks any sort of empathy for his patients, telling me when I expressed concern about the bunion still being there, and my foot still being swollen so long after surgery, that "it's better than it was". He didn't give any advice about getting around after the surgery (a friend lent me her knee scooter which was the way to go, not the walker he charged me for). Pain management was also lacking, I was in excruciating pain for 2 days after the blocker wore off. He also didn't give instruction for exercises after I could move my foot again, and his PA asked me at a check up if I was doing them - I had no idea what he was talking about. All up, very little concern for individual patients shown, cancels appointments last minute, keeps you waiting forever for appointments… he does keep, and unsatisfactory surgery outcome. I now have to go to another doctor to see if this can be fixed.

It was absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had! I waited to see this doctor for almost 2 hours an hour in the waiting room a half an hour to get my foot x-rayed and then an hour sitting in the doctors office never saw the doctor and I walked out will never ever go to Desert orthopedic !

My husband had knee replacement surgery from Dr. Frisica this past week, and we are so very pleased with this surgeon. No complaints at all. Trust him.

my wife has had a very good experience with dr fiiscia. he is a very caring doctor that is also very busy, but does find the time to check up and watch his patients progress. cudos to his p.a. bill, also very caring and intelligent.

I waited for more than 50 mins to see him, but he only spent less than 10 mins with me, and no time to me to tell my concern and my question, no any follow up

After waiting two + hours for this guy, I was finally seen by his PA who told me I needed surgery. When Friscia finally came in he didn't even look at my xrays, apologize for the outrageous wait or seem the least bit interested in my case. He never physically examined my foot and was very vague about what his proposed surgery would involve. I chose to go to the foot and ankle clinic at the Univ of Washington for a consult a few months later and what a difference. The physician's professionalism, thoroghness and detailed explanation of what was wrong with my foot and what it would involve to correct it made Friscia look like a rank amateur. Don't waste your time or money on this guy.

I thought I was going in for a minor surgery to correct claw toes, Now, my toes look even worse because he made them much shorter.

I found him to be inattentive, insensitive, with a rushed, factory-like manner, and I very much regret having him operate on my foot, as it has left me with permanent pain, much worse than before surgery. I also think his assistant may have performed some of the surgery.
