Dr. David Niels Krojanker, MD

Dr. Krojanker was consistently 30-60 minutes late to all of my appointments over the course of 3 years, which made it impossible for me to get back to work on time. He was also deeply judgmental about my life choices, shaming me instead of listening and offering helpful, guiding questions. Finally, he treated me like a drug addict despite me having no history of addiction, refusing to prescribe even a small number of anti-anxiety meds to help me survive a weekend before I could get in for an appointment, forcing me to go to urgent care, then accusing me of lying about my ability to work. I have a new psychiatrist whose care and compassion (and promptness) have me wondering why I spent so much time with a doctor who had so little respect for me, my time, and my health.

I saw Krojanker for about a year and he was late/made me wait a minimum of 30 mins each time. This is especially rich considering what he charges for late/missed appointments. He has no respect for anyone else’s time and least of all- his patients. At one point I had just switched jobs and had a lapse in health coverage. I was about a month overdue for an appointment when I tragically lost a dear friend. I was devastated. I called Krojanker’s office to see if I could get a partial refill of my anti-depressant until my new insurance kicked in. Krojanker himself called me back and was almost giddy - telling me nope, I need an appointment first. I saw him every 8 weeks and was a few weeks over with a good excuse and he didn’t care. Knowing I needed the medication, I booked the first appointment I could as self-pay patient. I showed up to the appointment and waited 45 mins while he tucked it up with a pharmaceutical rep. I checked with the receptionist twice because I had a new job and… I didn’t want to be extremely late for. After nearly an hour I told the receptionist that I would have to reschedule because my appointment was supposed to be an hour ago. No sooner than I got in my car to leave, he calls me and asks why I left. I explained the situation and he didn’t care at all. He actually sent me a missed appointment bill. I through it away and found a real doctor.

So far I've only had one visit. I arrived to my appointment 15 minutes early so I could fill out any needed paperwork. The paperwork was only about a page. That was good. The receptionist was pleasant. My actual appointment time was 9:00am. Dr. Krojanker walked into the office around 9:05am. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that traffic or a personal issue may have had him running late. I'm understanding about a one off day. I continued to wait since I assumed he may need a few minutes to get ready for our appointment. Usually, I will give someone 15 minutes to be late for an appointment, but after that I do concider it unprofessional and distrspectful to keep someone waiting. I went back up to the receptionist and asked if maybe I had the wrong appointment time. She said I was on time. Against my better judgment I sat back down and waited another 10 minutes. At this time it was 9:25am. I went back up to the receptionist and asked if I should reschedule since the Dr. didn't seem… ready for this appointment. She called his office at that time and told the Dr. I was asking to reschedule. Then Dr. Krojanker came out to get me for our appointment. He asked me if I had somewhere to be. I didn't have another appointment anywhere, but my time is just as important as his and I'm sure his patients following my appointment would also like to have their appointment begin in a prompt and professional manner. I was very reluctant to make a follow-up appointment, but I did for the sake of my family. However, I will not wait more than 15 minutes next time and if the tardiness continues at the next visit I will not schedule any further appointments.
