Dr. David William Pincus, MD

Dr.Pincus operated on my daughter in May of 2021. He preformed decompression surgery with the remove of C1, reduced the tonsils, and placing a dural patch. He was very reachable and approachable, I have a lot of questions over weeks and he answers every question with care and honesty. My daughter went from having debilitating headaches that had changed her quality of life to being able to return to the things she loves most with few interruptions. She can go to school, hang out with friends and participate in extracurricular sports now.

I took my 10 year old daughter to Dr. Pincus in 2008 for a 2nd Chiari decompression and fusion of C1-2. Got several opinions. Dr. Pincus said he could do the procedure in 5-6 hours. Other docs had said probably 2 procedures. My daughter was high risk to do anything on, so one procedure sounded good. And Dr. Pincus did come highly recommended. Eleven hours later, the surgery was done. My daughter's tongue was horribly swollen outside of her mouth, but I was told that was normal for a long face-down surgery and it would resolve in a day or so. Nine months later, tongue was exactly the same. She had to be trached, tube-fed, and spent virtually the entire time in the hospital, mostly in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator. No one on the care team had any idea what was going on. Got her transferred out of Dr. Pincus' care to another hospital, where eventually a GREAT ENT did multiple tongue resections to get her tongue back inside her mouth. She was unable to attend school for 2… years and has multiple, lifelong complications as a result. We all know bad things can happen in the OR. I would not, however, recommend Dr. Pincus to anyone because I think it all came down to hubris. Too confident, thinks too much of his abilities. I almost lost my daughter because of that.

Dr Pincus came into our lives when we were told that our 15 yr old daughter had a mass on her brain. We arrived at Shands and Dr. Pincus and members of the hospital staff spoke to us about what was found. My daughter had questions that he answered with patience and was very thorough. There were 2 brain surgeries and a final ETV surgery. He followed up with us frequently in the ICU and has great bedside manners. I can’t say enough about him. My daughter is still doing well. I’m grateful to GOD and Pincus’s steady hands!

Dr. Pincus performed a very unique operation on our 12 year old sons brain. In my opinion he is an outstanding doctor and a very good with children. Dr Pincus has been seeing my daughter since she was a year old, she is now 13 and she still sees him for the fluid on her spinal cord. He has patience and is wonderful with children. I was never rushed out of his office, and even if I thought my questions were stupid he always answers them. We love Dr Pincus and will never change drs.

dr. pincus only spends about 5 minutes in a room with us after we've waited for more than an hour to see us.every time we visit he says the same thing"everything looks good"but how can u tell that everything is good just by looking.NO catscans,mri's,x-rays or nothing.He is very arrogant and he doesnt really care about his patients like he should. i thought that he waqs a good doctor at first but after the same routine and"everything looks good" statement i began to feel much different.

Dr. Pincus spent less than five minutes with my son before he diagnosed him and scheduled him for surgery. The diagnosis was wrong VERY WRONG. This could have cost my son his life but in any event would have caused him untold disruption and discomfort to his life. Pincus was arrogant and rude. Fortunately, following my gut and getting a second opinion, another surgeon correctly diagnosed my son and performed a different surgery that preserved my son's quality of life. The worse thought to me, in addition to the threat to my son's life because of his terrible judgment, was that if Pincus had performed the surgery, I would have never known the diagnosis was wrong, and my son's life was ruined.

He is an amazing doctor! He gave my son life!!
